Mechanical Engineer

Leidos National Security Sector currently has an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to provide engineering support our Tactical Shelters Team (TST) at the Combat Capabilities Development Command-Soldier Center (CCDC-SC), Natick, MA. Experience with PTC Windchill is a must.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering support to the government team throughout the design, development, production and fielding of military shelters and associated support systems.
  • Provide Mechanical Engineering analysis of associated shelter systems and supporting equipment.
  • Design, analyze and document sheet metal assemblies using computer aided design software (CAD) such as the most current versions of AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Initiate and support the engineering change proposal process within the Windchill environment for various shelter and shelter related components.
  • Conduct Technical Drawing Reviews of associated electrical schematics and mechanical assemblies for shelter systems.
  • Assist the government representatives in the auditing of technical data packages for shelter systems and associated equipment with in the Windchill environment.
  • Clearly and effectively communicate effort status and expected completion date with the program manager and engineering team.
  • Support the government configuration management process within the Windchill Environment

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline with 4 or more years of relevant experience. Additional training, certifications, and/or experience may be considered to substitute education requirement.
  • Proficiency utilizing the following software for mechanical and electrical design.

    • AutoCAD
    • SolidWorks
    • PTC Windchill
  • Proficiency utilizing the following software for execution of workflow.

    • Microsoft Outlook
    • Microsoft Teams
    • Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point
    • Microsoft Project
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to plan and execute complex engineering tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and within the confines of a team.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain government common access card (CAC) upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Military Experience.
  • 5 years' experience directly related to shelter systems.
  • Working knowledge of ASTM-E1977, ASMT-E1978, Standard Specification for Shelter, Tactical
  • Working knowledge with International Convention for Safe Containers (CSC)
  • Working knowledge with ISO 668 - Series 1 freight containers.
  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code and its application for living/working spaces.
  • Experience with Military transportation conditions and engineering considerations.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $81,250.00 - $146,875.00
