Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Material Planner to join our operations team. This role is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating the movement of materials from warehouse receipt through to production. The Material Planner plays a critical role in ensuring the timely availability of raw materials and components to meet production goals, minimize delays, and maintain inventory efficiency.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan and schedule material flow to meet production requirements and minimize inventory costs.
  • Develop raw material requirements and schedules based on engineering specifications and production forecasts.
  • Coordinate material planning activities with purchasing, warehouse, and production departments.
  • Monitor inventory levels and adjust plans as needed to avoid material shortages or excesses.
  • Ensure timely delivery of materials to production while optimizing material availability and usage.
  • Track and analyze material movement and lead times to support continuous improvement in supply chain processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve material-related issues and support efficient production workflows.

  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to material planning and scheduling activities.

Basic Qualifications

  • TS/SCI w/ Poly Clearance is required
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in material planning, materials management, or supply chain operations (or a Master's degree with less than 2 years of experience).
  • Practical knowledge of materials management practices, production planning, and supply chain operations.
  • Familiarity with Bill of Materials (BOM), procurement processes, and inventory control.
  • Experience using Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) systems or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to apply previous experience to moderately complex issues.
  • Effective communication skills for working across departments, including purchasing, warehouse, and production teams.
  • Ability to work independently on moderately complex assignments and manage material flow efficiently from warehouse receipt to production.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (Master's) in a related field such as Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or Business Analytics.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment with cross-functional project involvement.
  • Working knowledge of advanced materials management systems or ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, or JD Edwards.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate with suppliers and vendors for optimal material delivery and inventory control.
  • Understanding of industry best practices and standards in materials and production planning.
  • Proficiency in developing and interpreting production schedules, forecasts, and engineering specifications.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles or just-in-time (JIT) inventory management.
  • Professional certifications such as APICS CPIM, CSCP, or ISM CPSM.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $50,700.00 - $91,650.00
