Leidos Defense Sector / Manufacturing is seeking a talented and experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic team at our Mechanical Manufacturing Facility in Huntsville, Alabama location. This position will support multiple programs in the defense industry, focusing on developing and optimizing manufacturing processes to ensure product quality and efficiency. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including weld engineers, CNC programmers, and manufacturing personnel, to achieve project objectives. Additionally, you will be actively involved in continuous improvement initiatives and implementing lean manufacturing principles to drive enhancements in safety, quality, cost, and delivery. Flexible 40 hours a week. Overtime is expected based on company needs.

Primary Responsibilities
- Use of MES software (Solumina) to implement, track, monitor, and control manufacturing processes, ensuring quality, efficiency, and compliance.
- Generation and maintenance of Manufacturing Bill of Materials (mBOMS).
- Generate routings inside Solumina to account for accurate run times.
- Plan and maintain production flow through MRP system, including change management and make/buy designation.
- Develop and implement manufacturing processes, procedures, and methods.
- Design and optimize tooling, fixtures, and equipment to support manufacturing operations.
- Collaborate with design engineering to ensure manufacturability of new products.
- Apply GD&T principles to create and interpret technical drawings, ensuring precision in manufacturing processes.
- Analyze production data to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions.
- Apply lean manufacturing principles such as Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Kaizens, and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) to enhance operational efficiency and drive continuous improvement.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for manufacturing issues.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial engineering or Industrial and Systems Engineering with at least 4 or more years of relevant experience or a Master's Degree with at least 2 or more years of relevant experience in an engineering field.
- Strong knowledge of machining processes and CNC programming.
- Proficiency in GD&T interpretation and application.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Experience with utilizing MRP and experience with ERP/PLM/MES systems
- Must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville or north Alabama area.
- Must be a US Citizen and possess or meet the eligibility to obtain (and be able to maintain) a Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in CAD software, preferably Solidworks.
- Proficiency in Windchill desired.
- Experience with ERP and MES systems (e.g., Costpoint, Solumina).
- Experience in the defense or aerospace industry.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and experience implementing them in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes
- 6 Sigma and Lean experience for solid RCA capabilities.
- Experience in data analytics and data querying
- PFMEA's, Capability studies, Gauge R&R
- Experience with ISO9001/AS9100 processes.
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $72,150.00 - $130,425.00
The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
