Your New Role and Responsibilities

We're looking for a collaborative and supportive Infrastructure Technical Operations Manager to help lead the delivery of hybrid infrastructure services within a small, skilled, and inclusive ICT team. This role is well-suited to someone who enjoys working closely with others, solving meaningful technical challenges, and empowering a capable group of engineers through day-to-day operations and continuous improvement.

You'll be responsible for guiding a cross-functional team and supporting the smooth operation of both traditional data centre platforms and modern cloud-native services (AWS/Azure). The environment is dynamic, with a strong focus on resilience, automation, and service availability. You'll work across virtualisation, storage, networking, databases, and cloud orchestration layers, while contributing to secure-by-design operating models and enterprise tooling.

If you value inclusive teamwork, enjoy mentoring others, and want to stay technically engaged in a hybrid infrastructure space, we'd love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

You'll join a technically capable team that values open communication, knowledge-sharing, and continuous learning. Your input will directly shape how infrastructure is supported, maintained, and enhanced to meet future needs. Whether restoring services, optimising cloud workloads, or implementing security baselines, you'll play a key role in delivering reliable and secure platforms.

  • Lead and support a high-performing team, including managing an on-call roster and extended hours where needed, while offering guidance, mentorship, and development opportunities.

  • Oversee day-to-day infrastructure operations, covering Windows/Linux servers, virtualisation platforms, cloud services, networking, and backup/recovery functions.

  • Help ensure system reliability and performance by responding to incidents, conducting root cause analysis, maintaining runbooks, and providing escalation support.

  • Develop and maintain operational procedures, ensuring they meet compliance standards and supporting improvements through structured change management processes.

  • Implement and maintain OS-level security controls and monitoring tools, and work collaboratively across teams to drive automation and operational efficiencies.

Qualifications & Experience

As a technical hands-on leader, your experience has given you strong management, coordination, and collaboration skills, as well as a passion for coaching and development with a view to building high performing teams. You will have:

  • Proven ability to lead physical and remote teams, with a track record of motivating and inspiring team members to reach their full potential.

  • Extensive hands-on experience with Windows Server and enterprise Linux environments, including SOE management, system hardening, patching, and configuration management.

  • Skilled in ITIL-based environments, with experience supporting change-managed systems, enterprise backup solutions, and virtualisation technologies.

  • Familiar with core cloud services (AWS and/or Azure) and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, and ARM templates.

  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills, with excellent documentation and communication abilities.

This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and hold or be able to obtain an NV1 level security clearance.
