Varec, a Leidos company is currently searching for a Field Service Engineer to support Varec's customers in Georgia, and other U.S. areas. The qualified candidate for this position will provide on-site and remote support to Varec customers for Tank Gauging and Liquid Inventory Management Systems. Varec is a worldwide leader in fuels management systems for total asset visibility and control, supplying integrated hardware and software solutions to oil and gas, defense, and aviation markets. The Challenge:
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electro-mechanical and electronic instrumentation and systems related to data acquisition and inventory control at customer locations.
- Provide support and training on Varec Tank Gauging equipment and systems to Customers, Sales Representatives, and internal resources.
- Issue service quotes and proposals for external customer inquiries.
- Follow up on service quotes and proposals issued to customers, send customer service orders to Customer Service for processing, and schedule onsite service work.
- Maintain a general knowledge of products and solutions.
- Coordinates with Engineering, Development, Sales, and Customer Support as needed to address customer issues or inquiries.
- Complete accurate and timely Field Service Reports for customer invoicing.
- Comply with all Leidos, Varec and customer EH&S policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Maintain tools and inventory necessary for customer support.
- Responsible for generating work schedule to maintain customer commitments and achieve billed utilization target.
- Work independently on larger, moderately complex projects/assignments.
- May assist other technical staff with tasks and assignments.
- Performs work such that schedules, project deliverables, goals, and milestones are met
- Addresses somewhat complex technical issues/problems using internal best practice and through collaboration with colleagues.
- Capable of explaining technical solutions, practices and procedures to others within the organization.
- This position requires extensive travel, primarily domestic with some international, and may include travel to high-risk areas. Differential allowances (Hazardous and Hardship Pay) may apply for hours worked while on travel to certain areas, as specified by U.S. DOS guidelines.
- Nominal 75% to 90% Domestic Travel.
- Other duties involve:
- Perform estimate generation for service and systems projects of increasing complexity.
- Drive business growth and development of the Field Services team by contacting existing customers utilizing Varec hardware and software products to offer onsite services.
- Review and approve Field Service Reports and Expense Reports.
- Coordinate with Customer Service to implement timely and accurate billing of service jobs and projects.
What Sets You Apart: (Basic Requirements):
- Bachelor's degree with two plus (2+) years of relevant experience. May consider more years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
- General understanding in the use of schematics and technical documentation.
- Proficient with multiple PC operating systems and applications.
- Experience with Microsoft office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, et cetera.).
- General understanding of data communication protocols, electrical systems and electronic circuits.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- General understanding of business activities related to order processing and invoicing for work performed.
- Must have general knowledge and experience to be able to handle unusual and seldom occurring job events with some assistance.
- Experience with troubleshooting hardware and software system related issues.
- Must have great communication skills, be self-motivated, attentive to detail, possess the ability to work independently, and have excellent organizational skills.
- Analyze customer processes, drawings, and schematics to understand customer processes and determine solutions to resolve customer issues. Design and implement solutions to include transition planning. Provide documents, to include wiring diagrams, system schematics, operation guides, and logical process execution to customers.
- Candidate must be capable of and willing to follow agency and company procedures.
- Possess a valid U.S. state-issued or territory-issued driver's license.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC ®).
- Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Passport.
- Candidate must be capable of and willing to follow agency and company procedures
You Might Also Have (Preferred Qualifications):
- Working knowledge of Varec hardware products and services.
- General understanding of PLC, SCADA, DCS, or other automation and control systems or components.
- Proficient in the use of schematics and technical documentation.
- Basic understanding of data communication protocols, electrical systems, and electronic circuits
- Familiarity with petroleum industry business practices and standards. To include but not limited to refineries, airports, light product, pipeline, and asphalt terminals.
- Experience in the setup, operation, maintenance, and repair of multiple types of electronic and mechanical level, pressure and temperature instrumentation.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $57,850.00 - $104,575.00
The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
