Electrical Engineer (High Voltage Systems & Preventive Maintenance)
We are seeking a versatile and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer & High Voltage Technician to design, implement, and maintain critical electrical power systems. In this hands-on role, you'll support everything from medium- and low-voltage distribution to preventive maintenance on high-voltage equipment, ensuring 24/7 mission-critical reliability in government, commercial, and institutional facilities.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, layout, and commissioning of medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems, substations, and switchgear.
- Conduct electrical studies-load flow, short circuit, arc flash, grounding-and recommend protection schemes using ETAP, SKM Power Tools, CYME, or PSCAD.
- Create and maintain single-line diagrams, protection/control schematics, and technical specifications for transformers, UPS, relays, and motor control centers.
- Lead preventive maintenance: perform insulation resistance, load, and system performance testing on wiring, panels, motors, VSDs, PDUs, and generators up to 115 kV.
- Execute field inspections, fault analyses, troubleshooting, and corrective actions to uphold design intent and compliance with NEC, IEEE, NESC, OSHA, and local codes.
- Install, commission, and maintain primary (HV/MV) and secondary (LV) substations, overhead/underground distribution, building services, grounding, and lightning protection systems.
- Support SCADA integration, digital/analog control systems, and building automation for monitoring and remote operation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams-mechanical, HVAC, facilities-and vendors to develop work plans, safety plans, and job hazard analyses.
- Document maintenance activities, generate status briefings, and recommend infrastructure upgrades for long-term reliability.
Basic Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline and 4+ years of combined engineering and field-technician experience.
- Journeyman or Master electrical license.
- Hands-on electrician experience with high-voltage systems up to 115 kV.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, technical specifications, and vendor manuals.
- Working knowledge of electrical engineering principles, circuit design, analog/digital systems, and hardware testing.
- Strong communication skills to articulate technical concepts and collaborate with stakeholders.
- Exceptional problem-solving and resilience under changing conditions and emergency scenarios.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and 6+ years of experience on high-voltage and power systems.
- Hands-on expertise in analog design, DSP algorithms, VHDL, RF circuitry, and Python scripting for test automation and data analysis.
- Familiarity with closed-transition switching procedures, protective relaying equipment, and power conditioning systems.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00
