Leidos Digital Modernization Sector within the Chief Information Office is seeking a highly skilled Data Center Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the deployment, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of data center infrastructure. You will work independently to achieve operational objectives and drive significant impact on project deliverables and results. You will be responsible for managing complete projects or technical processes related to data center design and innovation. You may also be involved in mentoring and reviewing the work of junior engineering staff, ensuring high-quality standards. This role ensures that the data center operates efficiently, securely, and reliably, meeting the performance demands of the organization. In this Data Center Engineer role, you will contribute to maximizing uptime, ensuring scalability, and implementing best practices to align with future business technology needs.

Location: Work will be performed on site in at our Sterling, VA data center.

Clearance: To be considered for this role, you must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain Public Trust Clearance prior to start.

Work Environment

• Requires a mix of on-site and remote activities, with field activities such as rack installation, cabling, and environmental monitoring.
• Flexibility to handle on-call rotations and after-hours maintenance tasks to ensure round-the-clock service reliability.
• Hands-on physical activity, such as lifting servers or hardware replacements, will be required.
• Most of the work is handled on premises, but some future telework may be authorized based on skills, responsibilities and duties assigned

Complexity

This role will engage in the development of advanced technical solutions through collaboration with experts and in-depth analysis. You will need to demonstrate, and will continue to develop, a deep understanding of systems architecture, integration, and engineering principles, applying them to develop solutions to complex and often unclear technical challenges within the data center environment.

Communication

• Dedicated site lead, main point of contact, so solid communication skills are critical to the role.

• Collaborate effectively with internal teams and client project teams to ensure alignment in solution design and processes.
• Provide technical guidance and influence team approaches to system integration, requirements, and security.

Leadership

• Serve as a mentor and technical coach for junior personnel, fostering skill development and ensuring adherence to industry standards.
• As an individual contributor, you will lead and coordinate cross-functional project teams to deliver highly reliable and scalable solutions.

Knowledge

• This role requires a deep understanding of principles, theories, and concepts of systems engineering and technical domains. A broad understanding of related specialty areas such as automation, cybersecurity, and system integration is essential to success.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 4+ years of prior relevant experience, or Master's Degree and 2+ years. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain Public Trust Clearance is required. NOTE: Upon offer, Leidos will process the clearance and this will be a contingency to start.

• Demonstrated experience managing complex systems throughout their life cycle, from design to implementation and maintenance.
• Demonstrated experience connecting and integrating disparate systems into a cohesive and unified infrastructure.
• Experience creating blueprints for designing and maintaining scalable, secure, and reliable systems.
• Experience implementing automated solutions to maximize efficiency in the data center.
• Experience incorporating enterprise security measures and managing security risks.
• Demonstrated experience identifying risks and implementing measures to protect sensitive systems and data.
• Proven experience leading and coordinating projects from initiation to successful completion, ensuring objectives, deliverables, and timelines are met.
• Demonstrated experience with managing and validating business and technical requirements, including functional and non-functional elements.
• Experience designing and implementing secure infrastructure systems to align with organizational security policies.

Preferred Qualifications
• Certifications such as CCNA, VMware, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or related qualifications are highly desirable.
• Experience with data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tools.
• Demonstrated expertise in designing and managing hybrid environments (data centers combined with cloud solutions such as AWS, Azure).
• Demonstrated experience with multiple Server operating systems (Windows, Red Hat, Ubuntu)
• Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash). Red Hat Ansible Automation platform
• Strong knowledge and skills with enterprise virtualization technologies (VMware, Red Hat OpenShift)
• Strong commitment to cyber defense mechanisms and proactive threat detection.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
