Leidos National Security Sector's Mission Solutions Business Area is seeking a highly experienced Chief Engineer to lead its multidisciplined engineering team in utilizing advanced technologies to improve U.S. DoD counter WMD and Hardened Facility defeat capabilities through enhanced analysis, modeling and simulations of critical processes, system of system infrastructures and structural characteristics of select facilities of interest to identify vulnerabilities and potential defeat vectors. This will be accomplished through driving innovations to existing processes by incorporating such things as Building Information Modeling (BIM), Modeling and Simulation (M&S) tools, and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML). As Chief Engineer, the selected candidate will define and execute the technical vision and strategy, provide technical leadership and guidance, and drive innovation by evaluating and integrating emerging technologies and methodologies into the production workflow to increase product fidelity and production efficiency. These efforts culminate in the regular delivery of models, simulations, demonstrations, briefings, and reports to support follow-on planning, acquisition, and capability development efforts.

Key Responsibilities:
The Chief Engineer will be responsible for the technical direction of the engineering and modeling teams while ensuring alignment with the program objectives including:
- Promoting a culture of innovation, encouraging teams to explore new technologies and approaches in building information management, modeling and simulation, and functional vulnerability identification.
- Working closely with the program management team to make critical decisions, ensure the quality of engineering solutions, and oversee requirements development.
- Ideally, the Chief Engineer will collaborate with the Building Information Modeling (BIM) Coordinator to develop and implement BIM standards, protocols, and workflows to characterize a facility, ensuring adherence to the BIM Execution Plan (BEP).
- Oversee the integration of BIM models from various disciplines (e.g., architectural, structural, MEP) and facilitate interdisciplinary coordination.
- The Chief Engineer will work closely with the Chief Software Architect to define engineering and modeling requirements to support software development solutions and implement AI/ML into the workflow.
- Additionally, this role works closely with the Chief Scientist to identify modeling and simulation requirements and capabilities to oversee development, implementation, and application of modeling and simulation techniques for analyzing complex and interconnected systems.
- Finally, this crucial role will work closely with the Engineering Production Leads and Teams to oversee and understand production workflows and processes to meet or exceed yearly production goals.
Required Security Clearance:
- MUST possess an active TS/SCI with polygraph, OR TS/SCI with the ability to successfully complete polygraph level clearance.
Required Experience, Skills, and Education:
- Master's degree in an engineering discipline (mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, plumbing or controls) and 15+ years of prior relevant experience or Doctorate degree in one of the same engineering disciplines with 13+ years of prior relevant experience. Prior relevant experience should be multi-disciplinary and include both technical and personnel management aspects.
- Experience in developing digital twin or 3D simulation networks.
- Proven experience in managing/leading large, cross functional teams.
- Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and control systems.
- KEY requirement: Experience as, or working with, a BIM Manager on facility projects and experience in executing BIM Execution Plans
- Proficiency in BIM Software such as Revit, Civil 3D, Navisworks, BIM360, etc.
- Experience with digital twin technologies and 3D modeling and simulation applications.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
Desired Experience, Skills, and Education:
- Experience as or working with facility managers.
- Experience or understanding of above and below ground facilities.
- Experience with industrial IoT platforms, SCADA systems, BMS, ICS, PLC.
- Working knowledge of protective engineering or physical force protection measures.
- Experience in vulnerability analysis or protective design or weapons effects.
- Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) Certificate of Management - Building Information Modeling (CM-BIM).
- 3D Modeling/Simulation/Analytics.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $148,850.00 - $269,075.00
