LeafLink is looking for a Controller, Director of Accounting to join our growing team in New York, reporting directly to the VP of Finance.  This critical role will be responsible for developing the accounting function for our existing businesses and building new processes and procedures for new and emerging initiatives as the Company continues to scale rapidly.  The Controller will research, develop, implement, and enforce accounting policies and procedures across each of LeafLink’s business lines, including Marketplace, Payments, Logistics, Advertising, Data, and others.  This role is for self-starters and entrepreneurial-minded individuals who have a strong technical accounting background across relevant industries demonstrated leadership in designing and implementing internal controls, and a sharp focus on execution. 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Oversee financial reporting, ensuring reliable, relevant, and timely financial reporting to senior leadership and investors
  • Proactively research and consult with the business on accounting implications of future products, strategies, and operations, including how accounting pronouncements and policies impact them
  • Guide and continue to build a world-class team of accounting professionals focused on accuracy, efficiency, scale, and cross-functional partnership
  • Develop and maintain clear accounting policies relevant to the Company in accordance with US GAAP
  • Lead company efforts to support the annual financial statement audit by an independent accounting firm in accordance with the Company’s reporting obligations
  • Develop and maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting, with the eventual target of Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance
  • Identify opportunities and lead efforts to automate tasks using technology solutions, allowing the accounting department to scale efficiently
  • Work with external accounting firms to prepare and file federal, state, and local taxes, as well as identify opportunities to achieve tax efficiencies
  • Partner with VP People to manage global payroll
  • Support Finance team efforts to deploy financial planning and forecasting software across the organization
  • Build and implement robust customer statement, billing, and collections processes for the Company’s business lines

What You’ll Bring to the Team

  • BA/BS in Accounting with 7+ years combined experience between Big 4 and controllership for growth stage business
  • Experience in SaaS, Financial Services, or Logistics industries a plus
  • Active CPA license
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, proactively identify current and future regulations applicable for existing and future business activities of LeafLink under both US GAAP and IFRS
  • Demonstrates ardent curiosity and interest in exploring and learning new business lines and evaluating the accounting and reporting impacts of new opportunities and initiatives
  • Positive attitude and optimistic disposition that contributes to the strong culture of the company
  • Ability to navigate across multiple teams with multiple business owners and able to create a culture of collaboration between accounting and other stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience establishing internal controls at a small company or startup environment
  • Strong ERP experience and history of managing accounting teams
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple work streams simultaneously, and delivering high-quality results that meet internal and external deadlines

Base salary $160,000 - $185,000 annually
