As a Supervisor in our Animal Operations Post Life area, you'll be directing a team of Study Technicians (Research Assistants) using animal research in developing new, safe and effective medicines, devices and products the protect and save the lives of people and animals
Location: Greenfield Indiana
Supervisor for Post Life Operations, you will be directly responsible for guiding, coaching, and selection of 6-12 Study Technicians in the Animal Research area of Histology and Necropsy. Your team of Study Technicians will be made up of Veterinary Technicians and staff with BS degree in Animal Science and related fields. Duties will include and not be limited to
• Promotes and drives high standards of procedural compliance, protocol adherence and data quality.

• Plan, schedule, and organize necessary resources for study conduct and assignments. Assign workload to direct employees.
• Interprets study plans and identifies problems resulting from the study plan or during study conduct and takes appropriate action.
• Ensures that all necropsy and histological procedures are completed and documented according to SOPs, GLPs, appropriate regulatory agency guidelines, and client specifications for all assigned studies.
• Acts as a subject matter expert in performing and guiding necropsy work, laboratory procedures and study documentation.
• Works closely with internal partners as well as clients to achieve study requirements.
• Responsible for producing and/or distributing appropriate communication within the group including study progress, facility procedures, quality, health and safety, business updates and any other departmental or company communications
• Optimize existing and develops new techniques, methods for study conduct or non-study specific areas and supports their application.
• Performs quality controls, assures corrections of errors (incl. documentation) identifies potential problems and optimizes the quality control system.
• Performs interviewing, selection and hiring of team members
• Responsible for constructive responses to reports and questions from Study Direction, QAU, EH&S, clients or regulatory agencies in a timely manner. Perform corrective actions when needed.
• Provides for safety and welfare of staff and supports/enforces Environmental Health and Safety Policies
• Prepares and discusses staff performance evaluation according to Labcorp standards Address performance management issues within the team. Assist with setting employee objectives based on strategic goals. Identify personnel actions, such as career development and skills building for direct reports.

Experience/Education/Qualifications
• Highly prefer but not required 2+ years of experience as a front-line supervisor position with management responsibility for a team of 6 or more in Animal Research or Laboratory functions.
• AS Degree as Vet Tech/Veterinary Science OR BS Degree in Life Science areas such as Animal Science, Biology, Animal Behavior, Wildlife Studies or related fields. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for specific education.
• 2+ years of hands on experince in Animal Research including experience with euthanization, necropsy and histology
• AALAS certification at the Laboratory Animal Technologist level is encouraged but not required.
