The Esoterix division of Labcorp is seeking a Research Associate II to join its R&D team in Calabasas, CA. Esoterix provides esoteric testing for hospitals and physician specialists, primarily specializing in endocrinology and GI testing. Esoterix goal is to provide premier laboratory services that positively impact patient care and cost-effective medical treatment.

The Research Associate will support research, assay development, validation, and improvement of assays used within a field of clinical lab testing. This position will be working in the Rheumatology, Peptides and Rare Diseases Department. Ideal candidate will have immunoassay development experience.

The schedule for this position will be Monday -- Friday, 8:00am -- 5:00pm

Responsibilities:

  • Working with minimal supervision, assisting with the development and validation of new assays and assisting in modifying current assays including research and bench level testing. Functions as a team leader when needed.
  • Assists in writing and reviewing batch records, SOPs, validation plans, validation reports and materials for review.
  • Analyzes, reviews, and presents data according to established guidelines. Communicates status, data, reports, effectively addressing any issues that may arise.
  • Maintains all appropriate records regarding data collection and interpretation of results. Maintains lab notebook and raw data binder and obtains sign off as appropriate.
  • Set-up, utilize, and maintain complex instrumentation.
  • Documents all activities as necessary including preventative maintenance logs, instrument function checks, troubleshooting, and quality control to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Assists with launch of new assay and implementation of assay changes providing hands on training.
  • Assists in maintaining R&D resources including refrigerators and freezers, lab areas, and equipment.
  • Review reports prior to submission to Quality Assurance department. Document all quality assurance activities as necessary including preventive maintenance logs, instrument function checks, troubleshooting and quality control to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Assists with assay automation in the designing and implementation of automated processes, MOLIS interface, and reagent preparation protocols.
  • Adheres to the standard operating procedures and safety requirements of Esoterix, CLIA, CAP and other regulatory bodies.
  • Follows any other job-related instructions and performs any other job related duties requested by department management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or similar scientific discipline with a minimum 5 years of relevant R&D laboratory experience OR
  • Masters degree in Biology, Chemistry or similar scientific discipline with a minimum 2 years of R&D experience
  • Hands-on experience in immunoassay techniques (i.e. ELISA, MSD, RIA, CLIA, FIA)
  • Hands-on experience with operating and troubleshooting automated liquid handling equipment
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment to determine methods and procedures on new assignments
  • Detail oriented with strong troubleshooting capabilities
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

**Salary Range: $75,000 - $100,000 / year

All job offers will be based on a candidate's skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
