Product Operations Specialist

Job Summary
The Product Operations Specialists are meant to bridge the gap between strategic goals and tactical delivery. They integrate directly into their assigned delivery teams, ensuring prioritized features and releases are decomposed, planned, estimated, and aligned into workable sprint plans. They are key resources and maintaining forward progress, removing blockers and making connections in service of the team members they work with.
These individuals are also critical in continuously improving processes and team efficiency by building new tools, processes and documentation.
Duties and Responsibility
- Work directly with the Business Owner and Product Manager to ensure product objectives are developed, defined, and socialized in keeping with the ongoing delivery and planning cadence
- Join with the Product Manager, UI/UX, Technical Owner, Technical Lead and PO to ensure ideas are moving through the discovery pipeline and the feature backlog is being populated. Help set discovery milestones, plans, and targets to drive transparency and progress. Ensure these ideas and their subsequent solutions are traced to the objectives they support for full traceability
- Work with the Product Owner, Technical Lead, select SMEs and UI/UX to decompose and design prioritized features. Ensure features have base level stories, designs and acceptance criteria in keeping with the planning and delivery cadence. Facilitate planning and definition activities as needed
- Collaborate with the PO and Tech Lead to build release plans that align with the established cadence. Ensure features are planned, designed, decomposed, and arranged in velocity-based sprint plans. Work through any constraints, risks, or issues to ensure the plans align with product objectives.
- Work with the PO and Technical Lead to build velocity-based sprint plans to realize planned releases. Ensure progressive elaboration continues and ensure that the planned stories meet the definition of ready well in advance of target sprint start. Work with the assigned teams to tag and categorize work increments to facilitate reporting and transparency.
- Own the sprint cadence and all baseline sprint sessions. Ensure these ceremonies are conducted in congruence with Biopharma Agile Operations Guidelines and provide the target value to teams. Work to ensure teams meet their target output and sprint goals sprint to sprint and monitor progress towards established release milestones
- Ensure baseline processes are in place in accordance with the Biopharma Agile Operations Guidelines. Work with teams to iterate and improve on the provided foundations to create an implementation that caters to their unique team needs and dynamics. Champion the process and ensure adherence from all members of the team
- Provide unbiased and objective status, progress, velocity, risk, and sprint reporting services to the broader product squad and leadership teams. Ensure risks and issues are communicated upon discovery, and where appropriate. Ensure all parties are aware of the current state of planning and releases.
- Work with the team and leadership to remove any obstacles or blockers that may hinder successful delivery of product increments
- Stays apprised of the latest technologies and innovations in web and mobile application technologies, as well as the latest thinking around agile methodology
- Consistently meets agreed-upon deadlines; escalates issues, concerns and barriers to team leadership.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree
- 2-4 years of experience working in a custom software development team as a scrum master and/or agile coach
- Certified Scrum Master required
Preferred Qualifications
- Current or previous Labcorp experience preferred
- Experience working in highly regulated, customer solutions industry such as Finance, Health Care, biopharma, or life sciences industry.
- Experience in leading or participating in large-scale operating model transformations
- SAFe6 "Leading SAFe" and/or "Implementing SAFe" a plus
Skills and Competencies
- Experience leading and working with development teams to build custom software solutions in a fast paced environment.
- Deep understanding of agile models, methods and principles along with the ability to extrapolate key concepts, adjust them and apply them to the unique needs of the organization
- The ability to listen, learn and adjust based on feedback, the current situation and team needs.
- Previous success in establishing new agile development teams, keying their processes to follow a based model and growing operations to a mature, efficient state.
- Demonstrated understanding of and experience with product engineering and product management principles
- Demonstrated knowledge and mastery of work management tools such as Confluence and Jira.
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, presentation, facilitation) and the ability to present technical and non-technical information clearly and concisely to a broad range of audiences.
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
- Entrepreneurial drive and the ability to respond to shifting priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
- Highly skilled at facilitation, negotiation and conflict resolution.
Working Conditions
- Onsite/Remote
- Regularly works with a computer for approximately 6-8 hours a day
- Must be able to read and understand complex directions in a professional corporate environment
- Must be able and willing to travel as required (< 15% domestic)
Application Window: 10/22 - 10/24
Pay Range: $84,900 - 131,550
All job offers will be based on a candidate's skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
