IT Business Analyst

Labcorp is hiring an IT Business Analyst. This role supports the Laboratory Information Management Systems and Products used by multiple specialty laboratory departments. This role is responsible for eliciting, documenting, and analyzing business requirements that impact Lab Information Management system processes. This role may support the launch of new or enhanced specialty medical tests and how they are processed through our Lab Management Systems.

Applicants who live within 35 miles of either the Burlington, NC or Durham, NC location will follow a hybrid schedule. This schedule includes a minimum of three in-office days per week at an assigned location, either Burlington or Durham, supporting both collaboration and flexibility.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis.
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with internal / external customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver functional requirements, use cases, user stories and user interface designs as required
  • Serves as the conduit between the customer community (internal and external customers) and the software development and support teams through which requirements process.
  • Develop requirements specifications according to and using the defined requirement process, tools, required by SOP and project guidelines.
  • Document business requirements in Use Case and User Story format.
  • Generate current and future state process flow, and data flow diagrams.
  • Generate software screen mock-up and prototypes.
  • Support both Agile Scrum and Waterfall SDLC.
  • Serves as a primary Project Analyst on medium to large complex projects.
  • Successfully engages in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs
  • Fosters good working relationships with all departments while managing business expectation levels.
  • Promotes, represents, and shares knowledge and experience with team and operation
  • Provide input into Test Plan creation and support test plan validation as required for QA.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5- 10 years of practical experience in a Sr. Business or Systems Analyst role.
  • Experience working in a commercial medical lab.
  • Experienced with gathering requirements.
  • Experienced with creating user stories and use cases.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Experience with tools including Top Team Analyst, JIRA, Confluence, etc.
  • Able to work independently, self-motivated.
  • Ability to collaborate with customers on requirements, requirement efficiencies, requirement priority and delivered value.
  • Agile and Waterfall experience.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical, or science related discipline.
  • CBAP IIBA certification or equivalent Business Analysis certification.
