The Women's Health and Genetics division of Labcorp is seeking a Genetic Counselor Assistant (GCA) to join their team in Santa Fe, NM. This is an exciting opportunity to provide support to the Genetic Counseling team in various areas including: accessioning, client services, send outs, and reporting. This role requires a high level of attention to detail and excellent customer service skills, with a focus on managing results and communicating effectively with clients.

The schedule for this position will be: Monday to Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM to start- with the option for Tuesday to Saturday after the initial training period. The position has the opportunity for hybrid work after the initial training period of 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Genetic Counseling team to manage results to be reported to patients
  • Obtain and distribute results and other records to genetic counselors
  • Communicate with clients, peers, laboratory staff and/or reference labs
  • Perform various administrative duties
  • Creation of and follow up on test authorizations
  • Follow up on pending results/cases with additional testing
  • Manage samples being sent to other sites

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a biological life science
  • 2-3 years' experience working in a laboratory or clinical genetics setting highly preferred
  • Familiarity with genetic concepts highly preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite required
  • Strong multi-tasking ability with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent ability to listen and respond effectively
  • Flexibility and the ability to manage and adapt to changing priorities quickly
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others and work cooperatively and effectively to set goals, resolve problems and make recommendations
