Flight Operations Specialist
Labcorp is seeking a Flight Operations Specialist.
At Labcorp you will contribute as an integral part of a dynamic and growing Flight Department team and will be responsible for monitoring all Labcorp Aviation flights. You will be called upon to advise stakeholders and business partners on the unique circumstances specific to aviation operations that may be unknown, or not fully understood by non-aviation personnel.
Your Flight Support role will work cross-functionally with a diverse group of people including internal and external business partners as well as Labcorp teammates at all levels of the company.
This role reports to the Assistant Chief Pilot, and will work directly with all levels of Labcorp Aviation Leadership.

What to Expect
- This position is onsite and based at the Burlington Alamance Regional Airport - KBUY
- You will be required to live within a 1-hour drive from the KBUY airport
- You will be part of a Diverse and Inclusive team of aviation professionals.
- You will be working out of a Beautiful New state of the Art Aviation Hangar.
- You will be coordinating flight operations for well-equipped aircraft that are professionally maintained to the highest standards.
- You will be required to lift passenger baggage and/or cargo as necessary (ability to lift up to 50lbs.)
- Your schedule will be variable, and you will need to be flexible as necessary to meet the needs of the company. This will include weekdays, weekends, days, evenings and some Holidays.
- You will be called on from time to time to help with projects, i.e.: manuals, SOP's, safety reports, pilot meetings, etc.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Your position will require the use of a variety of aviation related software used for scheduling, tracking, and monitoring of flight activities. This will require you to become fully versed and a subject matter expert in the operation of all software utilized.
- Maintains a vigilant watch utilizing Flight Aware on all Labcorp aircraft conducting Flight Operations on a daily basis to ensure safe and timely conduct of all cargo and corporate flight operations.
- Adjusts scheduled pickup and delivery times as needed based on adverse weather phenomenon, mechanical issues resulting in aircraft and/or ground delays, and communicates the adjusted schedule to all applicable external and internal customers.
- Coordinates ground and flight delays (Traffic, manning, weather, mechanical, etc.) to ensure the optimal use of Labcorp personnel and equipment to minimize the effects of any such delays.
- Advises stakeholders & business partners on the unique circumstances specific to aviation operations that may be unknown or little understood by non-aviation personnel. These issues will be communicated in a clear and understandable manner to enhance everyone's grasp of situational abnormalities.
- Reviews and stays informed of in-route weather phenomenon that may affect flight and ground operations and advises key stakeholders of potential delays with alternative solutions that would enable continued operations.
- May be called upon to file flight plans for flight operations as needed, and to participate in international trip planning.
- Reviews and advises air crew of any applicable NOTAMS (Notice to Airmen) for destination and alternate airports. Reviews any applicable Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFR's) along routes of flight and conveys the information in a timely manner to air crews to minimize any delay these may cause. (Knowledge of NOTAMS is the sole responsibility of the PIC)
- Communicates with all pilots engaged in flight operations to verify safe departures and arrivals.
- Informs Labcorp Aviation Leadership and Executive Director of Aviation in the event of any incident or accident and activates the department's Emergency Response Plan if needed.
- Communicates in a timely manner to all stakeholders regarding delays or routing changes. Communications are performed utilizing emails, phone, text, or in-person as applicable. A daily log of all specimen flight operations will be inputted by the PIC's and monitored by Flight Ops Specialist. A daily summary of flight operations will be copied into the flight operations online portal for distribution. All delays will be logged and reported at the end of each shift as part of the shift changeover.
- Maintains a full understanding of and compliance with the Departmental General Operations Manual and Standard Operating Procedures.
- May be called upon to assist in projects such as policy writing or other departmental projects.
- Actively participates in the department's Safety Management System.
- Performs any additional actions as directed by Aviation Leadership and/or Director of Aviation during crisis events.

Minimum Education and Experience, Required
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- FAA Dispatchers License
- 1 - 3 Years Aviation Experience
Skills and Competencies:
- Aptitude for the aviation industry would be acceptable provided candidate is sufficiently versed in the at least one of the following aviation related areas: Federal Aviation Regulations, aviation safety-focused decision making, Basic Atmosphere theory, weather hazards, reports, and forecasts, or Aviation dispatching and trip planning. Other areas of expertise desired: Aeronautical data (Charts, airport information) Route, time, and fuel calculations; Basic principles of flight, such as weight and balance and performance considerations; Aircraft utilization and operational limits Pilot perspective decision making
- Quick to adapt to changing situations while maintaining knowledge of aviation industry changes and regulations.
