Drawing upon your exceptional analytical prowess, you'll gather requirements from stakeholders and masterfully translate them into functional and nonfunctional specifications. As the driving force behind our customers' application modernization endeavors, you'll guide them through every step of the process, ensuring their systems are future-proofed and optimized for success. Your expertise will also come into play as you assist customers in selecting and customizing the perfect packaged solutions to fulfill their unique business needs.
Collaboration will be your cornerstone as you work closely with application architects and development staff to bring your visions to life. Your keen eye for detail will shine as you analyze requirements, meticulously plan design and implementation work, all while adhering to time, cost, and quality targets. You'll consult with customers on compatibility challenges, such as hardware and operating system considerations, data conversion processes, and training requirements, offering them holistic solutions that align seamlessly with their budgets.

Your Future at Kyndryl
As an Application Consultant at Kyndryl you will join the Kyndryl Consultant Profession, working with other Kyndryl Consultants, Architects, Project Managers, and cross-functional Technical Subject Matter Experts - presenting unlimited opportunities with unmatched support through our investment in your learning, training, and career growth.
Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients on mainframe application modernization strategies (rehosting, replatforming, refactoring)
- Lead assessments and workshops to capture requirements, evaluate application portfolios, and design migration roadmaps
- Provide subject matter expertise in either mainframe development and architecture or AWS modernization services - ideally both
- Partner with development teams migrating applications from mainframe to AWS environments, ensuring technical quality and business alignment
- Recommend and apply AWS services and modernization tools (e.g., AWS Mainframe Modernization, Micro Focus™, Arcad, etc.)
- Address migration challenges, including data conversion, application integration, operating system compatibility, and security considerations
- Support change management, training, and client enablement throughout the transformation journey

Who You Are
You're good at what you do and possess the required experience to prove it. However, equally as important - you have a growth mindset; keen to drive your own personal and professional development. You are customer-focused - someone who prioritizes customer success in their work. And finally, you're open and borderless - naturally inclusive in how you work with others.
Required Skills and Experience
- Deep expertise in mainframe application development and deployment (COBOL, PL/I, middleware, data) OR in AWS cloud application migration and modernization
- Strong consulting skills: ability to engage with stakeholders, translate business needs into technical solutions, and present clear recommendations
- Practical knowledge of migration approaches (lift & shift/rehosting, replatforming, refactoring)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience bridging between business and technical teams
- 8+ years of relevant experience in enterprise-scale environments
- English language proficiency
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience across both domains - mainframe AND AWS/cloud modernization
- AWS or equivalent cloud certification
- Exposure to modernization tooling: Micro Focus™, Astadia, Bluage, Cast, RainCode
- Knowledge of mainframe security practices and tools
- French language
