The Role

We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Power BI Solution Designer with strong expertise in dashboard design, visual storytelling, and data visualization best practices. The ideal candidate will design and deliver interactive, user-friendly dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights to business stakeholders. This role requires advanced Power BI development skills with a strong focus on designing impactful visualizations, applying UI/UX principles, and enabling self-service BI across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Dashboard & Visualization Design

• Design and develop interactive dashboards, reports, and scorecards in Power BI.
• Apply visual storytelling techniques to present complex data in a simple, intuitive way.
• Use a variety of visuals, pivots, slicers, drill-throughs, bookmarks, and custom visuals to enable deep analysis.
• Ensure dashboards are responsive, user-friendly, and aligned with business needs.

Solution Design & User Engagement

• Partner with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs and translate requirements into dashboard designs.
• Develop mock-ups, wireframes, and prototypes to validate design concepts before build.
• Enable self-service BI by designing reusable templates, themes, and standard visualization frameworks.

Data Preparation & Modelling (Light)

• Work with data models and queries prepared by data engineers or BI developers.
• Perform light data shaping using Power Query (M language) when needed.
• Ensure visuals are optimized for performance (filtering, aggregation, query reduction).

Governance & Best Practices

• Establish visualization standards, color palettes, KPI layouts, and design guidelines.
• Promote dashboard usability and accessibility best practices across teams.
• Ensure dashboards comply with governance, row-level security (RLS), and publishing standards.

Required Skills and Experience

• 5-7 years of experience in Power BI dashboarding and visualization design.
• Strong expertise in Power BI visuals, drill-downs, bookmarks, pivot tables, and slicers.
• Advanced skills in data visualization principles, UI/UX design, and storytelling with data.
• Proficiency in DAX (for measures, KPIs, calculations).
• Experience collaborating with business teams to capture requirements and deliver tailored dashboards.
• Strong understanding of Power BI Service (publishing, workspaces, sharing, apps).
