The Role

As a Systems Programmer at Kyndryl, you'll have the opportunity to shape the very foundation of the technology that drives our world. Your work will involve developing, testing, and maintaining the software that controls a computer's operating system, hardware, and other systems software. You'll be a master troubleshooter and problem-solver, with the skills to fix even the most complex issues that arise.

Not only will you be responsible for ensuring the security of our computer systems, but you'll also work closely with other IT professionals to design and implement cutting-edge technology that keeps Kyndryl ahead of the curve.

In this role, you'll provide the underlying Mainframe operating system platform programming and DBDC subsystem programming support that forms the backbone of our applications. You'll guide functional objectives on technologies and make use of your expert knowledge to drive solutions to complex problems.

As a leader in this field, you'll also be expected to conduct RCA discussions for the products you work on and provide ongoing technical and operational guidance to lead professional work teams. You may even manage departments on a national or international level, defining objectives and managing resources to ensure the success of your projects.

Your expertise will be crucial in influencing people outside of your department or function, and you'll have the opportunity to directly shape the technology landscape of the world we live in. Key responsibilities

Required DB2 Syspro resource with experience 10 -15 years.

Environment- Subsystem setup, Backup & Recovery and Data Sharing

  • Experience and Expertise in Mono plex, SYSPLEX architecture and data sharing architecture.
  • Experience in DB2 subsystem setup - both Stand-alone and data sharing.
  • Experience and Expertise on tweaking DB2 ZPARMs
  • Good knowledge on DB2 DRDA architecture and Communication database.
  • Experience in DB2 backup and recovery scenarios - traditional image copy, FLASH, mirroring etc., methodology.
  • Experience in REXX/CLIST and ISPF programming skills.
  • Good knowledge on transactional environment like CICS, IMS architecture and interface with DB2.
  • DB2 Data sharing skills - Installation, customization, DB2 structures, CFRM policy, DB2 CF recovery, Data sharing locking mechanism etc.,

Software migration/maintenance:

  • Experience and good exposure to SMP/E process.
  • Experience and Expertise on software migration and maintenance procedures - Install, backout, re-migration process - DB2 V9, V10, V11 and V12.
  • Experience and good exposure to unsupported, new features in the recent versions of DB2 on z/OS software. (V12, V11, V10 etc.,)
  • Good knowledge on mainframe compilers like LE etc.,
  • Experience and Expertise on SMP/E basics and debugging.
  • Good knowledge on process related to PMR tickets and co-ordination with L2 development support.
  • Good Knowledge on DB2 Health check, DB2 security and Patch management.

ISV Products/Tools:

  • Good exposure to the Installation and maintenance of
  • IBM tools like OMEGAMON, DB2 Admin, HPU etc.,
  • CA - Suite of tools like RC Migration/update/Query etc.,, Fast Load/Unload, Insight etc.,
  • BMC - Suite of tools
  • Experience and expertise in IBM utilities like REORG, RUNSTATS, LOAD, UNLOAD etc.,
  • Experience in IBM tools/products is mandatory. Candidate should have good experience in both BMC and CA products or either one is okay.
  • Experience in problem debugging and Vendor specific PMR ticketing procedure.

Problem Solving & Performance:

  • Good knowledge and experience on DB2 traces, SMF, RMF and WLM.
  • Good knowledge and experience on SMF Statistics, accounting and performance reports.
  • Good knowledge on Virtual storage tuning like Buffer Pool, EDM Pool and thread storage parameters.
  • Good knowledge on SYSPLEX, data sharing and distributed problem-solving skills.
  • Expertise on monitoring tools like IBM Omegamon, CA Insight, BMC Mainview etc.,
  • Good Knowledge on z/OS and DB2 system performance tuning methods.
  • Job Qualifications

Additional/Nice to have Skills:

  • Experience in DB2 Connect and IBM Data Studio
  • DB2 Cloning process - IBM DB2 Cloning Tool or any customized in-house Tools.
  • SAP/DB2 architecture knowledge - SAP Service marketplace, SAP note reference like 81737 etc,
  • SAP/DB2 Maintenance procedure. Experience in SAP note, high availability solutions, GUI DB transactions etc.,
  • PeopleSoft/DB2 architecture.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

10+ Yrs experience in DB2 subsystem setup (standalone & data sharing) and ZPARM tuning.

  • Expertise in Monoplex, SYSPLEX, and data-sharing architecture.
  • Strong knowledge of DB2 DRDA architecture, backup & recovery (image copy, FLASH, mirroring).
  • Experience in REXX/CLIST, ISPF programming, and CICS/IMS-DB2 interface.
  • Expertise in SMP/E, DB2 software migration (V12, V13), and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with unsupported/new DB2 z/OS features, compilers, and debugging.
  • Experience handling PMR tickets and DB2 security/health checks.
  • Installation & maintenance of IBM tools (OMEGAMON, DB2 Admin, HPU).
  • Experience with Broadcom (RC Migration, Fast Load/Unload) and BMC tools.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Strong knowledge of IBM utilities (REORG, RUNSTATS, LOAD, UNLOAD).
