The Role
As a Mainframe Architect at Kyndryl, you'll have the opportunity to shape the very foundation of the technology that drives our world. Your work will involve developing, testing, and maintaining the software that controls a computer's operating system, hardware, and other systems software. You'll be a master troubleshooter and problem-solver, with the skills to fix even the most complex issues that arise.

Not only will you be responsible for ensuring the security of our computer systems, but you'll also work closely with other IT professionals to design and implement cutting-edge technology that keeps Kyndryl ahead of the curve.
In this role, you'll provide the underlying Mainframe operating system platform programming and DBDC subsystem programming support that forms the backbone of our applications. You'll guide functional objectives on technologies and make use of your expert knowledge to drive solutions to complex problems.
As a leader in this field, you'll also be expected to conduct RCA discussions for the products you work on and provide ongoing technical and operational guidance to lead professional work teams. You may even manage departments on a national or international level, defining objectives and managing resources to ensure the success of your projects.

You are able to analyze and translate IT requirements using modernization frameworks into components of a modernized solution in support of CIO operations. Has expertise in legacy asset analysis, code restructuring and refactoring, code conversion and business logic extraction into executable business rules. Has expertise in one or more legacy platforms and integration and service exposure mechanisms to interface components for reuse by Systems of Engagement; is familiar with development and testing of applications in cloud environments and can be part of CIO teams. Demonstrates experience in application development and support on a variety of enterprise platforms including cloud, mainframe and server/data center environments.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
• Must have good experience in different types of mainframe modernization projects (tool based conversion, re-hosting, re-engineering, replace etc).
• Must have solid experience on Cobol, PL/1 or Assembler. Should have sound experience on CICS/DB2/IMS-DB/IMS-DC/VSAM/JCL.
• Must have worked on at least one mainframe reporting language (such as SAS, Focus, Easytrieve or DYL/280).
• Design and definition of reference Mainframe architecture (HLD / LLD / Specs).
• Responsible for implementing part or all of the technical solution to the client, in accordance with an agreed technical design.
• Support the functional testing of the whole migration solution. Analyse and solve the detected issues.
• Support the move to production activities, Post-Go Live activities. Analyse and solve the detected issues.
• Experience in analysis, planning for mainframe modernization. Should have experience in various estimation techniques.
• Should have exposure to CDC and data/DB migration aspects.
• Should have good experience on working on RFP's/ RFI's, Pilots/POC's etc.
• Define the integration model with System Z in the Cloud.
• Support for the Design and Build of the target cloud solution.
• Perform technical tests as part of the migration and / or modernization.
• Participate in the transfer / Handover to customer teams or to other teams.
• Explain and review their work with the various stakeholders, including the various contacts of the end customer and project management.
• Supervise the technical teams in the construction phases.
• English - Advanced.
• Spanish - Advanced.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
• Must be proficient in programming languages such as Java, Python, C, C++.
• Excels in problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience in operating systems (Linux, UNIX, or z/OS).
• Experience with NetView / SysView, FTP, SFTP, Axway CFT, Connect: Direct, VIPA, DVIPA, etc. ideally in a complex GDPS environment.
• You have experience in the field of Mainframe and connected environments.
• Actively design & develop end-to-end automated software solutions capable of interfacing and integrating with in-house developed and vendor developed solutions and plug-ins via APIs and web services.
• Gathering & translating requirements into end-to-end automated software code for new or existing solutions and projects.
• You must have worked in presales/solutioning role.
• You must have solid experience in the field of Z integration in a Hybrid-Cloud.
• You have very good hardware knowledge of System Z as well as z / OS and z-Linux.
• You like working in a team and have good interpersonal skills.
• You have analytical and synthesis skills.
• Master the concepts of the cloud, as well as containers and their management.
• Knowledge around Containers (Openshift and LinuxOne).
• Interest in innovative technical subjects.
• Define a high availability and resilient solution.
