The Role

The Process SME is responsible for evaluating, analyzing, and optimizing IT Asset Management (ITAM) processes across the hardware and software asset lifecycle. This role ensures the organization's asset management processes are aligned with industry best practices, governance requirements, and business objectives. As a Process SME, the individual will assess current-state capabilities, identify gaps, and define target-state process models that enhance control, compliance, and cost-efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

ITAM Process Assessment & Maturity Evaluation:

• Lead the assessment of current ITAM processes including hardware, software, procurement, deployment, usage, reclamation, and disposal.
• Conduct workshops, interviews, and documentation reviews to evaluate process effectiveness, compliance, and alignment with best practices (e.g., ITIL, ISO 19770).
• Develop process maturity models and scorecards to benchmark current performance and identify gaps.

Process Design & Optimization:

• Recommend improvements to ITAM processes, controls, and workflows to address inefficiencies, risks, and non-compliance.
• Define future-state process maps, RACI matrices, and governance models that support scalability and standardization.
• Ensure alignment of ITAM processes with related domains such as CMDB, procurement, finance, and security.

Governance & Policy Alignment:

• Review and refine ITAM-related policies, standards, and procedures to support audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
• Ensure that process improvements are aligned with internal governance frameworks and external compliance requirements (e.g., SOX, GDPR, software licensing).

Stakeholder Engagement & Enablement:

• Partner with asset owners, ITSM teams, procurement, and finance to drive adoption of recommended process improvements.
• Deliver clear and actionable assessment reports and process documentation to executive and operational stakeholders.
• Facilitate training and workshops to promote awareness and understanding of ITAM process roles and expectations.

Tool Alignment & Process Integration:

• Assess how ITAM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Flexera, Snow) support or hinder current processes and recommend adjustments.
• Ensure process design is effectively integrated with supporting technologies and automation platforms.

You're business-aware and customer-focused, ensuring that every process improvement supports operational excellence and compliance. And you're open and collaborative-naturally inclusive in how you engage stakeholders across IT, procurement, finance, and governance to deliver scalable, future-ready solutions.

Requirements & Skills

• 10 years of experience in IT Asset Management or IT Service Management with a focus on process design and evaluation.
• Deep understanding of ITAM lifecycle processes, including request, acquisition, tracking, compliance, and disposal.
• Experience performing process maturity assessments, gap analyses, and workflow optimization.
• Familiarity with ITAM/ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow, BMC Remedy, Flexera, or Snow Software.
• Strong knowledge of relevant standards such as ITIL, ISO/IEC 19770, and ISO 20000.
• Excellent skills in stakeholder engagement, process documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

• ITIL v4 Certification (especially Specialist: High Velocity IT or Create, Deliver & Support)
• ISO 19770 Foundation or Practitioner Certification
• Experience with audit and compliance assessments in software and hardware asset environments
• Six Sigma or Lean Process Improvement certification
