The Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with engineering, architecture, and finance teams to define and implement FinOps practices for Azure environments.
  • Design and implement cost optimization strategies across Azure IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS offerings.
  • Develop and manage automation solutions using Azure-native tools (Azure Automation, Logic Apps, Functions, Policies, Blueprints) to enforce cost controls.
  • Implement governance frameworks for tagging, chargeback/showback, and resource utilization tracking.
  • Build dashboards and reports using tools such as Azure Cost Management, Power BI, and third-party FinOps platforms.
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate FinOps practices into CI/CD pipelines for proactive cost management.
  • Provide expert guidance on Azure architectural choices with cost, scalability, and performance considerations.
  • Conduct regular cost reviews, anomaly detection, and optimization workshops with business and engineering stakeholders.
  • Stay current with Azure updates, FinOps standards, and industry best practices.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong background in Azure architecture (networking, compute, storage, databases, identity, and security).
  • Hands-on expertise in Azure-native automation tools (Azure Resource Manager, Bicep, Terraform, Azure Automation, Functions, Policies).
  • Solid understanding of DevOps practices and experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
  • Demonstrated expertise in Azure cost optimization including Reserved Instances, Spot VMs, Savings Plans, right-sizing, scaling strategies, and workload modernization.
  • Experience with Azure Cost Management + Billing, Power BI, and FinOps tools
  • Familiarity with FinOps principles and framework (preferably FinOps Certified Practitioner).
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to collaborate with both technical and financial teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure FinOps Certified Practitioner.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
