JEWELRY/MERCHANDISING DIRECTOR

JOB DESCRIPTION

Develop and direct the merchandising strategy and execution of the Jewelry Merchandise department. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports
- Develop and direct divisional merchandise strategies, pricing and standards to maximize sales and profit potential while remaining competitive
- Direct, manage and develop Merchandising team and Diamond & Design team to create business plans that achieve sales, margin and inventory goals
- Oversee the management of merchandise vendor relationships including all agreements and adherence such as the Standard Vendor Agreement (SVA)
- Partner with senior leadership to plan and execute company-wide initiatives
- Complete assortment analyses with each buyer
- Analyze competitive information and adjust strategies accordingly to maximize performance
- Perform retail location inspections to review conditions and merchandising standards, solicit associate feedback
- Must be able to perform the essential job functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5+ years of buyer and/or merchandising experience
- Gemological Institute of America GIA Certified
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive information
- Ability to respond to changing business priorities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to coach and train
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent oral/written communication skills
- Ability to collaborate and work cooperatively in a team-based environment
- Strong understanding of industry/technical terms and processes

Desired
- Any experience directing and participating on project teams
- Ability to operate the following special equipment, machinery, and/or special tools: jeweler's loupe, diamond tweezers, gem scope
- 40 WPM typing; 4,000 SPH ten-key by sight
