Overview
Installation of Security Systems
- Assist in the installation of physical security systems, including cameras (CCTV), access control systems, intrusion alarms, and intercom systems.
- Run and terminate low-voltage wiring (Cat5e, Cat6, coaxial, fiber optic) for security devices.
- Mount and install devices such as cameras, card readers, door controllers, and motion detectors.
Responsibilities
System Setup and Configuration
- Assist with basic configuration and programming of security systems under the guidance of senior technicians or supervisors.
- Set up networked devices such as IP cameras and access control panels.
- Conduct initial power-up and test system functionality to ensure proper operation.

Site Survey and Preparation
- Assist with site surveys to determine optimal placement for equipment and infrastructure.
- Help prepare the site by installing conduit, mounting brackets, and cable pathways.
- Ensure proper adherence to safety protocols and standards at installation sites.
Troubleshooting and Testing
- Perform basic troubleshooting on hardware and cabling issues.
- Test installed components to ensure systems are operational and communicating correctly.
- Work with senior technicians to resolve issues during installation and testing phases.
Documentation and Reporting
- Document work completed, including site conditions, equipment installed, and any troubleshooting steps taken.
- Maintain accurate inventory of equipment used and report any shortages or damaged equipment.
- Submit detailed reports of daily activities to supervisors and project managers.
Customer Interaction and Support
- Communicate effectively with customers during the installation process, addressing any questions or concerns.
- Provide basic training and demonstrations to customers on how to use installed systems.
- Act as the company's representative on-site, ensuring professionalism and a customer-focused approach.
Adherence to Industry Standards
- Follow company policies and guidelines for installation and safety.
- Stay informed on relevant local, state, and federal regulations related to physical security systems.
- Adhere to quality standards to ensure installations meet industry best practices.
Equipment Maintenance
- Assist with the maintenance and calibration of tools and equipment.
- Ensure that all equipment used is in working order and kept in clean, organized condition.
Collaboration with Senior Technicians
- Work under the supervision of senior technicians or project managers to complete assigned tasks.
- Provide support for more complex installation tasks as needed.
- Engage in ongoing learning by observing and assisting with more advanced system installations.
Travel and Field Work
- Travel to job sites, which may be local or across different regions depending on customer locations.
- Be prepared to work in various conditions, including outdoor environments and construction sites.
- This role often involves being hands-on, ensuring that all equipment is installed according to specifications while maintaining excellent communication with both the team and the customer.
