The Senior Materials Coordinator leads the efficient and timely procurement of Materials to support Production Schedules and Sales plans, while optimizing Inventory levels and + $20M spend.

Inventory data, Domestic, International and Overseas Supplier’s Leadtime and Transit time, MOQ’s, Safety Stocks, Supplier On Time and Quality performance, Scrap and manufacturing process yield, .

As part of the ever-evolving Global Supply Chain Management function, the Senior Materials Coordinator must be able to utilize highly analytical, Leadership, communication and problem-solving skills, to drive and sustain Supplier On Time delivery performance

Responsibilities:

  • Managing Domestic, International and overseas suppliers and corresponding Leadtimes, Transit times, Customs processes and times, developing.
  • Perform daily analysis of Inventory On Hand and In transit, as well as requirements (Master Production Schedule and Forecast), then calculate requirements, issue and confirm PO’s for optimal replenishment of Inventory buffers.
  • Monitor PO’s on time and accurate closure, to prevent disruptions and Accounts Payable discrepancies or holds.
  • Optimally defining replenishment methods: Min - Max replenishment points, Kanban loop size to meet business safety stock policies, while demand is constantly fluctuating, and must be able to mitigate impact related to transportation delays, Supplier delivery or quality issues.
  • Responsible to setup MRP Planning parameters in ERP system, per commercial / contractual agreements for Supplier Leadtime,
  • Manage Supplier MOQ’s to meet Kohler Days of Supply objectives and prevent excess spend and obsolescence
  • Maintain close communication and collaboration with Kohler Corporate purchasing, Kohler Logistics, and potentially with 3PL’s.
  • Collaborate Cross functionally to improve business KPI performance areas such as: Engineering, Quality, Finance, SIOP, Manufacturing Operations, Continuous improvement.
  • Flexibility to communicate or meet with Suppliers in overseas regions in different time zones.
  • Communicate any risk of disruption related to weather, Customs, Transportation or Supplier issues, and develop countermeasure plans along with other functional areas.
  • Audit Bill of Materials, actual consumption vs Backflush, reporting to Manufacturing Engineering any BOM errors.
  • Perform Cycle counts as required by Kohler finance policy and assists with the physical inventory process to ensure RAW, WIP, and FG accuracy.
  • Maintain electronic records and logs for the responsibilities described above.
  • Simplify and Standardize the Supplier Management process and Inventory visual management systems for best-in-class performance. 
  • Incorporate SAP ERP, e-Kanban and KBNA e-business solutions designed to improve supply management.
  • Key contributor for lean projects to reduce Leadtime and Cost.
  • Participate in and lead cross-functional teams, as required, to drive improvements within Cast Iron Materials Management.
  • Communicate - escalate to Kohler Supply Chain any potential disruption, related to Supplier issues, and collaborate in development of contingency plans to recover from internal or external, to ensure consistent supply of direct materials, MPS execution and assure Cast Iron flexibility to
  • Key Performance indicators: LOTIF, Inventory turns, Schedule attainment, Inventory Accuracy.

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; High School Diploma or GED required
  • Demonstrated experience in Supply Chain, Materials or equivalent field preferred
  • Highly analytical, communication, and leadership skills to communicate with senior management, manufacturing operations associates, and all functional areas of the business.
  • Experience in developing inventory projections and optimization actions, cost controls, product life, inventory loss / variance reduction and sustainable improvement
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, QAD, D365, or Epicor
  • Advanced in MS Office software such as Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, MS project
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, APICS certifications or foundry experience are a plus
