Kairos Power is a new nuclear energy technology and engineering company whose mission is to enable the world’s transition to clean energy, with the ultimate goal to dramatically improve people’s quality of life while protecting the environment. This goal will be accomplished through the commercialization of the fluoride-salt-cooled, high-temperature reactor (FHR) that can be deployed with robust safety, affordable costs, and flexible operation to accommodate the expansion of variable renewables.

Kairos Power is seeking a highly motivated Engineer with expertise in the development and application of non destructive testing methods. In this role, you will help set the vision for Advanced Reactor inspection requirements and develop company-wide NDT solutions. This Engineer will act as a key interface between design, construction, procurement, and other partners to support the timely and cost effective delivery of major engineering programs and test systems. Additionally, you will mentor junior engineers to grow company expertise in non destructive testing.

Responsibilities (Edit as appropriate)
- Develop innovative NDT solutions for the full range of Kairos Power business applications
- Collaborate with Engineering Teams to optimize inspection and online monitoring of reactor systems
- Interface with Fabrication Teams, Vendors, and other Partners to ensure appropriate inspection of components and reactor systems
- Lead NDT aspects of Reliability and Integrity Management (RIM) Programs for the Hermes Reactor, building off of the Engineering Test Unit (ETU) experience
- Mentor other engineers to develop Company-wide NDT vision and expertise
- Publish engineering reports documenting design details or qualification test results
- Maintain knowledge of and assess compliance with applicable codes and standards

Qualifications (Edit as appropriate)
- B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or equivalent
- Expertise in several NDT methods (e.g. ultrasonic testing included phased-array methods, radiography including computed tomography, eddy current methods, potential drop methods, etc.)
- 10 years or greater of experience developing and applying NDT methods in industrial applications
- Proficiency in computer methods for data acquisition, control, and analysis
- Proven team player with excellent verbal, written communication/presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with power generation components including welded construction
- Strong background nuclear materials including stainless steels and graphite
- Expertise with material degradation modes including corrosion, stress corrosion, irradiation damage, and common welding defects
- Familiarity with applicable codes and standards, particularly the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel code on Rules for In Service Inspection (Section XI), High Temperature Reactors (Section II, Div. 5), and Weld Qualification (Section IX).
- Broad experience across power plant engineering topics
- Experience as a technical mentor
