Job Summary 

Kairos Power is seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Planner to support manufacturing projects. This individual will partner with key internal stakeholders and the manufacturing team to deliver projects on-time in accordance with specified targets and objectives. The Manufacturing Planner is responsible for ensuring timely and efficient project completion, coordinating with shop staff (machinists, fabricators, welders, helpers, etc.), engineering, procurement, shipping & receiving, EHS, and external vendors when needed. Additionally, he/she will also evaluate suppliers, quality timeliness to align with goals and deliverables. They also monitor material supply flow, identify any shortages or bottlenecks in usage that may arise and regularly balance workload based on shop capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Review and generate work orders in Tableau and Jobboss for site specific work
  • Work directly with internal design teams to understand needs, identify how the manufacturing team can support, partner to resolve challenges and provide work order status updates including expected completion dates or priority changes.
  • Interface with manufacturing staff, procurement and shipping/receiving to procure materials, tools, and supplies for upcoming and scheduled work orders
  • Assist department leads with prioritization of inbound work orders by evaluating complexity of manufactured parts, staffing resources and existing production schedules; outsource work orders to external shops when appropriate
  • Identify and act on opportunities to increase part production rate on a daily basis in collaboration with internal shop leadership, personnel and outside vendors
  • Maintain relationships with external vendors for material and outsourced work
  • Coordination with outside vendors to track procured parts against current priorities and schedules
  • Support the 5S of shop space, maintain inventory, track usage, and enter purchase request via Coupa for needed items  
  • Assist with writing technical documents and reports as well as document lessons learned
  • Compile data and generate custom tables, filters, views, reports related to manufacturing productivity
  • Provide process improvement suggestions and support continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications 

  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years of experience as a planner or scheduler
  • Experienced scheduling complex and innovative development projects
  • Strong ability to analyze work orders, break down work by production departments, and develop plans for the work to be accomplished
  • Demonstrated effective time management skills
  • Independent self-starter with initiative
  • Experience with power generation components including welded construction is preferred
  • Able to read and interpret drawings to evaluate complexity and general work planning
  • Familiar with different raw steel material types, grades
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with highly collaborative team
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently
  • Prioritizes and ensures safety of oneself and others
  • Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge
  • Ability to seek different and novel ways to create efficiencies when working on problems, challenges, and issues

Physical Conditions

  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, scissor lifts, articulated boom lifts and the like
  • Setting up and transferring temporary structures (e.g. scaffolding, ladders)
  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
  • Adjusting, moving, transporting, installing, positioning, or removing objects up to 50 pounds in all directions

  • Operating motor vehicles, heavy equipment or machinery

  • Repetitive assembly operations of manufacturing test fixtures and test setups in collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams

Travel 

  • Some travel may be required 20%

Certification

  • Capable of obtaining forklift and boom lift certification
