Job Summary 

Kairos Power is seeking a motivated, experienced, and knowledgeable Buyer, who will work under the supervision of the Director, Supply Chain and Procurement. The Purchasing Expeditor/Buyer I position  is responsible for supporting the Supply Chain and Procurement (SCP) department to facilitate on time deliveries and informing buyers and internal stakeholders of potential gaps in supplier performance. The Purchasing Expeditor/Buyer I position also supports the department with reporting metrics on late deliveries and overall supplier trends.

Responsibilities 

  • Provide excellent and timely customer service to internal customers in fulfilling the procurement process.
  • Manages supplier lead-times to ensure on time delivery of goods and services to match required dates from internal stakeholders.
  • Runs reports and exports to excel from ERP system. Expeditors will review and analyze data and respond accordingly with follow ups to suppliers.
  • Expeditor will run an open order report to make sure all purchase orders have confirmations, that orders needing additional information are updated, and that lead times are correct.
  • Expeditor will follow up on late orders based on their required delivery dates and follow up with suppliers accordingly based on internal priorities.
  • Provide Supply Chain and Procurement Manufacturing support on internal fabrication and machining at all Kairos Power’s manufacturing facility
  • Other reports as needed.
  • Work closely with project teams, engineering, communicating, and coordinating related purchases, problems, evaluation of services, minimizing construction risks, etc.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with reliable suppliers for specified supplies, while understanding the production processes and internal systems.
  • Purchase requirements of assigned materials at the lowest long-term cost for the quantity, quality and delivery required.
  • Negotiate the lowest possible long-term cost through competitive bidding and market supply knowledge.
  • Work closely with project teams, sales representatives, communicating and coordinating related purchases, problems, evaluation of services etc.
  • Perform duties in accordance to Kairos Power policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field (Supply Chain or Business) or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • 1+ years of related experience (strategic sourcing, commodities, purchasing operations) in an laboratory or manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Self starter and ability to make decisions and implement strategic purchases with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply Procurement principles, policies, concepts and standards, and procedures, INCO Terms including price analysis, negotiations, ethics, terms and conditions and Procurement law.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a high-volume environment.
  • Ability to independently plan, schedule and carry out work assignments, initiate and participate in the improvement of procurement practices.
  • Experience with ERP requisition and procurement systems.
  • Ability to work with highly collaborative team.
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently.
  • Prioritizes and ensures safety of one self and others.
  • Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge.
  • Ability to seek different and novel ways to create efficiencies when working on problems, challenges and issues.

  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
  • Adjusting, moving, transporting, installing, positioning, or removing objects up to 10 pounds in all directions
