Software Engineer III - Mainframe Cobol CICS DB2

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the JPMorgan Wealth Management (JPMWM) technology, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.
Job responsibilities
- Design and development of Mainframe batches.
- Participate in design and code reviews, incorporate performance requirements into design, and provide input to information/data flow.
- Comply with project life cycle methodology and adhere to IT control policies and guidelines.
- Incorporate corporate architectural standards into application design specifications.
- Identify applicable system platform, components, dependencies, document application specifications.
- Analyze performance issues and resolution recommendations
- Ability to react quickly to changing business needs.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software development concepts and 3+ years applied experience.
- Strong 8+ years Mainframe experience.
- Must have hands on experience on COBOL, DB2, CICS, MQ, MVS Utilities, VSAM and JCL.
- Must have hands on experience on DB2. Must be proficient in creating views, writing stored procedures and performing code tuning.
- Working experience on various products and tools like SORT, SPUFI, PLATINUM, XPEDITER, FILEAID, CHANGEMAN, FTP, NDM
- Working experience of Control-M.
- Knowledge of enterprise SDLC standard process and management tools like JIRA
- Should be able to translate high level design to detail technical design and implementation.
- Take ownership of business-critical and complex applications.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- BFSI (Banking Finance Service and Insurance) experience is preferred
- Should be able to relate business requirements, high level design, detail technical design and implement the changes.
- Proactively identify and communicate issues leveraging standard monitoring and alerting tools, and work to resolve issues liaising with 3rd party resolver teams as necessary.
- A good listener and should articulate ideas in writing and verbally to any audience in a way where these are understood and achieve the goals intended with that communication
- Have ability to work effectively with teams/people having different skill sets, personalities, work styles, or motivation level
- Maintain documentation in-line with group best practices to ensure knowledge accessibility and continuous learning within team
- Awareness of industry standard SDLC processes for quality management
- Working with both Mainframe and Distributed skills is a PLUS for this role
- Good to have knowledge on Java, Apache Kafka,
