Senior Associate, Business Strategy for Innovation Economy Value Added Services (Commercial Bank)
This role provides the exciting opportunity to support the creation of Value Added Services (VAS) for the Innovation Economy (IE) clients of the Commercial Bank.
As a Senior Associate, you will support the end to end execution of the IE VAS strategy of the Commercial Bank through various projects. You will execute on this strategy through enhancing current product sets, as well as adding new solutions and services through partnerships with not only internal business units, but also external organizations whose solutions provide a strong fit with the needs of our innovation economy clients. These projects are team-based and necessitate your significant collaboration with senior executives and cross-functional business partners.
Commercial Banking is focused on helping our clients succeed and making a positive difference in our communities. We provide credit and financing, treasury and payment services, international banking and real estate services to clients including corporations, municipalities, institutions, real estate investors and owners, and nonprofit organizations. Growing our Global Innovation Economy (IE) business - within the Commercial Bank and across the firm - and delivering the firm seamlessly to the IE client base, is a top priority for JPMorgan Chase. The IE business encompasses the entire Venture Capital ecosystem, including Partners, Founders, Portfolio Companies and their employees, and Venture Capital Firms; the business segment covers early and growth stage Technology, Disruptive Commerce, Life Sciences, Healthcare Services, and other industry specializations. Offering Value Added Services (VAS) is an important aspect of our IE growth strategy. VAS are additional services that are offered beyond our core banking products that enhance our overall solution, client satisfaction, and client retention.
Job Responsibilities
- Support delivery of the IE VAS strategy (including a portfolio of existing initiatives, as well as new initiatives for IE clients) through partnership with key business units, front office personnel, as well as functional partners across Digital, Data and Product, Middle Office, CB Solutions, Finance and Business Management, Marketing, Legal and Risk
- Manage and report progress on a portfolio of initiatives and KPIs of existing VAS solutions to the executive leadership on a regular basis
- Collaborate with teams across lines of business and functional areas (e.g., fin-tech partnerships, legal, compliance, finance, product, marketing) on developing new products and maintaining success of existing solutions
- Perform competitive benchmarking of VAS offering with respect to similar services offered by banks, fin-techs, and other non-financial institutions
- Participate in and lead regular check-ins with partners regarding progress; problem solve when challenges arise, ensuring appropriate accountability and positive momentum; manage and track key follow-ups through completion
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor's degree
- 5+ years of management consulting, corporate development, corporate strategy, or investment banking experience
- Extensive experience supporting large scale and complex delivery across multiple work streams with varying timelines / priorities
- Structured thinking ability, strong attention to detail and effective communication skills, including excellent written communication
- Ability to structure and scope complex problems and apply a range of analytical tools to develop solutions
- Strong analytical skillset with ability to analyze large sets of data to form tangible business insights
- Expertise in PowerPoint (PitchPro+), Excel, Word, Teams
- Highly organized, self-motivated and continuously seeking opportunities for improvement
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Knowledge of startup and Venture Capital ecosystem
- Familiarity with internal JPMC systems and business intelligence toolsets
- Commercial Banking experience
