Job Summary:
The opportunity is to join the London based ABS Trading desk focusing on the Whole Loan business. The primary activity of the Whole Loan business is acting as principal to purchase portfolios of individual assets where the underlying debtors are consumers or SMEs (residential and commercial mortgages, consumer loans, SME loans).
Whole Loan Trading role focuses on:
- Managing (hedging, performance analysis and day to day monitoring) of existing portfolios working with the number of internal (product control, market risk, middle office, QR, etc.) and external (originators, servicers, external service providers) stakeholders by developing models, controlling, and enhancing the daily workflow and participating in the exit of the portfolios via securitisation; analysis of the ongoing profitability of each individual product and customer
- New product and client analysis providing model assessment of the potential profitability of the product by analysing prepayment and default scenarios as well as historical performance of the underlying assets; development of securitisation models using both Excel as well as external modelling systems (Intex)
- Competitive and market analysis identifying trends in the market versus JPM pricing for existing and prospective products

Job Responsibilities:
- Detailed quantitative and analytical analysis and cash flow modelling, including ROE analysis
- Review and refinement of processes, policies, and procedures. Identify and implement improvements to enhance the efficiency of the business
- Analyze data, identifying trends, and resolving issues to improve performance
- Contribute to business growth through portfolio acquisitions for existing and new products
- Support Business development initiatives to explore new counterparty relationships, new ways of doing business, new asset types, new geographic markets and new legal structures
- Liaising with Syndicate team and internal salesforce, who are tasked with identifying institutional investors interested to purchase the bonds/loans created by the SPG Originations team - both in Europe and globally
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Understanding of how receivable portfolios perform including key risks and drivers of performance. Knowledge of the financial industry and debt capital markets, including clear understanding of technical concepts
- Strong data and analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in data analytical tools (Excel, Alteryx) and familiarity with Intex. Ability to build the cashflow and securitization models for consumer assets
- Ability to build rapport and maintain relationships with servicers and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and thoughtfully with internal and external stakeholders including Senior Management, Investment Committee, Middle Office and internal control functions including LOB Legal, LOB compliance, Principal Risk etc.
- Exceptional work ethic, as well as the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines, whilst maintaining excellent attention to detail
- Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks including experience of risk management tools and systems
- Ability to propose solutions to identify and improve controls.
This role encompasses the performance of UK regulated activity. The successful candidate will therefore be subject to meeting UK regulatory requirements in the assessment of fitness, propriety, knowledge and competence (as assessed by the Firm) and (where appropriate) approval by the UK Financial Conduct Authority and/or the Prudential Regulation Authority to carry out such activities.
