As a Correspondent Counterparty Risk Vice President within the Home Lending Risk team, you will provide well-informed, risk-based recommendations for the approval and ongoing monitoring of established correspondent counterparty relationships. You will evaluate the financial stability, operational capabilities, and compliance of these lenders to ensure adherence to the organization's risk standards. Additionally, you will oversee ongoing risk management and performance monitoring of key credit and portfolio strategies. Collaborating closely with various departments, you will develop comprehensive risk management strategies, monitor risk exposure, and implement effective mitigation measures to safeguard the organization's interests.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic assessments and decision-making for new Correspondent Seller applications, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and policies.
  • Drive innovation in risk management practices and monitor loan performance, financial stability, and industry intelligence of Correspondent Sellers
  • Spearhead comprehensive industry intelligence research, including monitoring negative media, mergers and acquisitions, and regulatory actions, utilizing insights to inform strategic decisions and risk management strategies.
  • Build partnerships with JPMC counterparts to address common counterparty risks and facilitate cross-functional collaboration for risk management.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to convey risk insights and decisions, promoting transparency and dialogue within the organization.
  • Lead ad hoc analyses and represent Risk Management in high impact projects, driving process and efficiency improvements.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and risk management best practices.
  • Provide indirect leadership to cross-functional teams, fostering alignment and collaboration to achieve strategic goals, while mentoring and developing team members to enhance their capabilities and drive organizational success.
  • Provide independent risk oversight for Correspondent Lending Transformation initiatives, assessing the need for new processes and overseeing their development and implementation.
  • Lead and contribute to key projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Champion Correspondent Risk modernization and automation efforts, enhancing the system of record for efficiency and effectiveness.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in Home Lending and Correspondent lending, with a proven track record in corporate financial statement analysis and Counterparty Risk management within financial services.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex risk management concepts and effectively influence stakeholders through communication and high emotional intelligence.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Secondary and Capital Markets
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mortgage underwriting, quality control and servicing
  • Ability to analyze multiple data points and communicate decisions to management
  • Strong team player with exceptional analytical and financial assessment skills. Proven ability to build strong relationships and lead teams to achieve strategic objectives.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills

  • Strong Microsoft PowerPoint (PitchPro) and Excel skills
  • Knowledge of Agile Methodology
  • Intellectual curiosity with a proven ability to learn quickly
  • Direct work with regulators a plus
  • Proven experience in stakeholder engagement with strong communication skills and high emotional intelligence
