As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within Infrastructure Platforms you apply deep knowledge of software, applications, and technical processes within the infrastructure engineering discipline. Continue to evolve your technical and cross-functional knowledge outside of your aligned domain of expertise.

Job responsibilities

  • Applies technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to projects of moderate scope.
  • Drives a work stream or project consisting of one or more infrastructure engineering technologies.
  • Works with other platforms to architect and implement changes required to resolve issues and modernize the organization and its technology processes.
  • Executes creative solutions for the design, development, and technical troubleshooting for problems of moderate complexity.
  • Strongly considers upstream/downstream data and systems or technical implications and advises on mitigation actions.
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on Mainframe Storage concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
  • Initialize / add new DASD volumes and Add new tape volumes. Perform the space management activities such as VTOC resizing, Defrag, Compress / Reclaim / Release / Cleaning of datasets.
  • Manage and Define SMS rules and ACS routines along with reorganization of storage dataset (HSM CDS & Catalog file).
  • Knowledge of various Mainframe storage products like Catalog Recovery Plus, Vantage, STOPX37, DSS, JCLs, VSAM, HSM, CA1, CSM, DS8K, VTS and GDPS replication. Adopt the given technology to meet the drift of customer and business requirements.
  • Problem determination and resolution within expected time frame. Root Cause Analysis preparation and meeting Service level agreement for submission.
  • Participating in 24x7 on call and off-hours technology events.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Disaster recovery planning and performing the recovery test (Tape recovery / DASD Replication / Tape Replication) and Managing the Copy services / GDPS.
  • Develop, document and maintain procedures for system utilities such as backup/restore, performance tuning and configuration of environments as well as incremental backups as required.
  • Skilled in programming in REXX or other languages strongly desired.
  • Effective communication and team skills with an ability to cooperate, present to and participate with peers/team members.
  • Developing automation, tooling, reports, and utilities to assist in mainframe access administration.
