As an Infrastructure Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Infrastructure Platforms team, you will leverage your extensive knowledge of software, applications, and technical processes in the infrastructure engineering discipline. You will apply your technical expertise and problem-solving skills across various applications of moderate scope.
Job responsibilities
- Applies technical knowledge and problem-solving methodologies to projects of moderate scope, with a focus on improving the data and systems running at scale, and ensures end to end monitoring of applications
- Resolves most nuances and determines appropriate escalation path
- Executes conventional approaches to build or break down technical problems
- Drives the daily activities supporting the standard capacity process applications
- Partners with application and infrastructure teams to identify potential capacity risks and govern remediation statuses
- Considers upstream/downstream data and systems or technical implications
- Effectively apply hands-on experience with Checkpoint, Fortinet, Palo Alto, and Cloud Firewalls to manage upgrades, updates, migrations, and new implementations.
- Proficiently utilize scripting languages such as Python, Ansible, or Terraform to automate firewall and cloud security tasks.
- Thoroughly demonstrate knowledge of enterprise security, advanced networking (routing, switching, load balancing), and cloud integrations.
- Competently operate and troubleshoot within Linux operating systems to support network and security infrastructure.
- Be accountable for making significant decisions for a project consisting of multiple technologies and applications

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on infrastructure disciplines concepts and 5+ years applied experience
- Strongly apply knowledge of one or more infrastructure disciplines, including hardware, networking terminology, databases, storage engineering, deployment practices, integration, automation, scaling, resilience, and performance assessments.
- Effectively install, configure, maintain, and decommission Checkpoint and Fortinet Firewalls.
- Proactively analyze network traffic on firewalls to identify potential issues.
- Skillfully troubleshoot network connectivity issues and resolve technical problems related to firewalls.
- Consistently ensure the configuration of rules aligns with security standards.
- Efficiently develop scripts to automate monotonous activities and firewall deployments.
- Diligently implement and enforce security policies on Checkpoint and Fortinet Firewalls.
- Regularly perform software and security updates, including migrations as needed.
- Accurately administer firewalls and virtual private networks (VPNs) in hybrid public cloud environments.
- Thoroughly participate in security audits and risk assessments to maintain compliance.
