As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Banking - One Chase Experience team, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a senior engineer in the team, you would be acting as the design authority and the mentor to Junior engineers through helping them out with technical issues and enforcing best practices. Furthermore, you would have an opportunity to lead the strategic initiative to migrate the existing app over from the Legacy platform to the modern platform/framework.

Job responsibilities
- Maintain existing Java microservice/Python batch application and create new microservice/Python batch application base on the business requirements
- Convert batch processes that is built with Java Spark to Python/Python Spark
- Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
- Move application running on on-premise private cloud to AWS. Provide knowledge transfer on this effort to other engineers so the whole team can support apps running on AWS
- Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
- Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
- Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
- Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
- Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
- Conduct code reviews on code changes done by junior engineers and provide feedbacks on the changes needed so that engineers get educated
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
- Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Proficient in coding in either Java (Spring Boot) or Python
- Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with either Java or Python and database querying languages
- Solid understanding of agile methodologies and CI/CD
- Experience in developing and maintaining scalable microservice or batch application
- Demonstrates proficiency in AWS or any other cloud technology
- Working knowledge on Kafka or any other event driven framework
- Able to clearly articulate technical topics to the business in concise manner
- Collaborate with other team members as a team and resolve conflicts professionally
- Guide and mentor junior engineers on technical items
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience in Java/Python Spark
- Experience with Cassandra and Aurora Postgre
- Experience with ECS Fargate and AWS Glue
- Experience in integration with Salesforce or Salesforce development
- Familiarity with modern front-end technologies such as reactj.js
- Experience in Machine Learning Algorithm
- Well versed in Splunk query
