The Chief Data Office is a business centric team, as part of the Global Chief Data & Analytics Office ('CDAO') organization, and is responsible for the execution of data management strategy, ensuring data policies, governance and standards are applied consistently across Lines of Business, Corporate Functions and in countries.

As an Associate in China Chief Data Office team, you will be tasked with implementing the data management strategy, ensuring consistent application of data policies, governance, and standards across various business lines and corporate functions in the China futures company. Your role will involve in leading and coordinating data-related workstreams, review & analysis of data related regulatory requirements, contribute to regulatory engagement as appropriate to the development of data-related agenda, development of reporting metrics, and execution of projects as per local regulatory requirements. You will also be responsible for promoting a data-centric culture in the entity. This role offers a unique opportunity to build strong partnerships with various teams and deepen your understanding of China's Financial Markets and regulations.

Job responsibilities:

  • Support the Chief Data Office executives in defining and executing on global and local data strategy
  • Lead and own specific data workstreams (i.e. data governance, data protection, privacy, data storage etc) in ensuring compliance with global firmwide policies and local regulatory requirements
  • Develop reporting/ metrics to support governance meetings and managers with supervisory responsibilities e.g. Data Protection Officers
  • Leads and execute specific projects required by local regulatory requirements (owned by Data office)
  • Promote awareness of data culture across all CIB LOBs, conduct data governance training and communication strategy / campaign.
  • Foster strong partnership with fellow APAC CDO team, Legal, Compliance, Tech Control, Technology, Operations and other business and functions
  • Participate in regulatory engagement for agenda that is data related

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • B.A. in Finance, Technology or related fields
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in a leading financial institution or other similar fields with chief data office, finance, operations, compliance, change-the-bank management or other related experiences
  • Good understanding of China Financial Markets and regulations
  • Good understanding of data flows and data controls
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in English and Chinese, along with the ability to tailor a message to various levels of management
  • Strong aptitude to work with a wide range of line of businesses and functions
  • Strong analytical, problem solving skills and result-oriented
  • Highly motivated individual with excellent time management & organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, flexible and capable of engaging various functions, locations, and businesses

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience in technology and data-related fields are a plus
