As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within Chase Travel, you will lead a technical area and promote impact across teams, technologies, and projects within various departments. You will leverage your extensive expertise in software, applications, technical processes, and product management to oversee multiple complex projects and initiatives. In this role, you will serve as the primary decision maker for your teams, fostering innovation and ensuring effective solution delivery.

Job responsibilities

  • Leads technology and process implementations to achieve functional technology objectives
  • Define and maintain technical roadmaps to achieve functional technology objectives for SMB Travel technologies
  • Makes decisions that influence teams' resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures
  • Carries governance accountability for coding decisions, control obligations, and measures of success such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations
  • Delivers technical solutions that can be leveraged across multiple businesses and domains
  • Influences peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams
  • Champions the firm's culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition, 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise.
  • 10+ years of travel technology experience, 5+ years of Travel Management technology experience
  • Experience with API connectivity for Air (NDC and EDIFACT), Hotel, Rail, Car and GDS supplier content
  • Experience designing and developing Corporate Account Management and Corporate Traveler Profile systems
  • Strong background in architecting, designing and developing large scale distributed solutions using cloud based approach.
  • Recent hands-on experience in designing and driving technical solutions leveraging Java or .Net, AWS or Azure, React and/or Angular on open source technology stacks
  • Experience building micro services with an API first approach
  • Understand and convey programming models, technologies, systems and API's that are relevant for stakeholders
  • Work with product teams regularly to ensure understanding and alignment of requirements and technical solutions
  • Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
  • Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field

  • Ability to evaluate and identify gaps in development processes and lead teams through adoption of best practices related to software engineering productivity, quality and stability
  • Track record of leading teams through change by motivating, inspiring and being an example
  • Ability to frame and communicate complex or abstract concepts in a clear, cohesive framework for all levels of the organization
  • Track record of managing with a focus on risk and dependency management
