JPMorganChase is seeking an experienced Kafka and ETL Architect leader to lead the design and implementation of our Kafka architecture. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping our data streaming and ETL strategies, ensuring robust and scalable solutions that meet the needs of our business. This position requires a strong commitment to open-source contributions, particularly within the Kafka ecosystem. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead Kafka architecture initiatives at Chase, driving innovation and contributing to the open-source community. Job responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture and implementation of Apache Kafka solutions to support Chase's data streaming and integration needs.
  • Design and optimize ETL processes to ensure efficient data flow and transformation across various platforms.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Actively contribute to open-source projects related to Kafka, enhancing the community and staying at the forefront of technology advancements.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the development team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition, 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise
  • Experience developing or leading cross-functional teams of architects
  • Extensive experience as a Kafka Architect, with a deep understanding of ETL processes and data integration.
  • Proven track record of contributions to open-source projects, particularly within the Kafka community.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Java, Scala, or Python.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, particularly in deploying and managing Kafka clusters.
  • Experience in performance tuning and optimization of Kafka and ETL processes to handle large-scale data.
  • Experience with data governance and compliance, ensuring data integrity and quality across systems.
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and its integration with Kafka for scalable solutions.
