As a Data Steward, you will support the Global Banking Deputy Chief Data Office program and play a pivotal role in managing and ensuring the quality, integrity, security, and compliance of data assets within your aligned data stores. You will be responsible for spearheading the implementation of data risk governance standards and procedures, supporting data-driven business decision-making, and enabling teams to achieve superior outcomes by maintaining a robust data risk and controls environment. This role is crucial in enabling innovation through the proper classification/registration of data to support lifecycle management and alignment with strategic business objectives, supporting advanced analytics, compliant usage of data assets and business intelligence.

Job responsibilities
- Identify, mitigate, and monitor risks across the entire data lifecycle, including data classification, protection, retention, destruction, storage, use, and quality
- Implement robust governance and operational frameworks to support data risk management standards and ensure timely resolution of identified issues
- Provide subject matter expertise on data content and usage, fostering a strong culture of data stewardship and continuous improvement
- Investigate, determine root cause, and resolve identified data issues, collaborating with impacted teams to implement corrective actions
- Manage metadata repositories, ensuring data definitions, lineage, and usage are well-documented and accessible
- Facilitate data identification, registration, and cataloging by documenting data flows, data models, and appropriately classifying data
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish end-to-end data quality/lineage processes, ensuring transparency and traceability
- Conduct technical data quality assessments, recommend solutions, implement corrective actions, and ensure compliance with data risk requirements
- Collaborate with key partners to understand data needs, ensuring data is fit for purpose and integrated into analytics platforms to support decision-making
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- 10+ years of experience in data governance, management, and quality programs within the banking or finance industry
- Strong understanding of data flows, models, classification, and quality with expertise in data management, governance, and enterprise-level data platforms
- Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage stakeholder relationships, and build partnerships to achieve business goals
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Demonstrated project management skills, capable of managing tight deadlines and balancing stakeholder needs across multiple workstreams
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Strong data management and data governance experience in a fast-paced global organization
- Proficient in using advanced metadata management tools and standardized data description languages to enhance data organization and accessibility
- In-depth knowledge of data risk management standards and practices, ensuring robust protection and compliance across data risk operations
- Data governance or data management certification, reflecting a strong commitment to this field of knowledge
