Credit Support Associate I

As a Credit Support Associate in the Credit monitoring team, you assess borrower compliance with credit agreement terms and help identify potential defaults across syndicated and bilateral facilities. You interpret financial and other covenants, apply established routines to deliver accurate evaluations, and escalate non-routine issues to senior team members. You collaborate with stakeholders using clear communication, thoughtful conflict management, and strong time management to deliver reliable service.

Job responsibilities

  • Determine whether borrowers have breached covenants and are in default under credit agreement terms
  • Interpret credit agreements and related legal documents to identify parties requiring setup in the system of record for ongoing covenant monitoring
  • Perform credit analysis, review documentation, and monitor ongoing compliance with financial covenants across an assigned borrower portfolio
  • Calculate cash flow and leverage ratios in accordance with the specific terms defined in credit agreements
  • Build and maintain working knowledge of relevant industries (e.g., real estate, financial institutions) and secured lending products, including borrowing base facilities
  • Determine grid-based performance pricing as defined in agreements to support appropriate compensation for credit risk
  • Provide training, guidance, and quality review support for junior team members, as applicable
  • Adhere to defined quality control standards and service level agreements with internal business partners
  • Support resolution of escalations from underwriting and respond promptly to inquiries from business partners
  • Adapt to changing work priorities and support team needs with a collaborative, service-oriented mindset

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Ability to interpret credit agreements and related documentation to evaluate covenant compliance
  • Proficiency in reviewing borrower financial information to support covenant calculations and compliance assessments
  • Ability to understand complex credit transactions and summarize key transaction terms clearly
  • Working knowledge of common loan products and structures (e.g., revolving lines of credit, term loans, borrowing base facilities)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to engage stakeholders across levels
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, including effective time management and prioritization
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Commitment to quality control, process discipline, and accurate documentation

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • 4 years of experience in banking and/or financial analysis
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Experience assessing credit risk for real estate developers, investors, real estate operating companies, or investment funds
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives to optimize lending workflows and enhance operational efficiency
  • Developing experience using AI-powered analytics, workflow automation, or intelligent process tools to drive efficiency gains, reduce manual effort, or improve accuracy in operational processes.
  • Experience creating quantitative reporting to track performance and support data-informed decision-making
