The Controls Organization oversees the Commercial & Investment Banking's Risk and Control environment, ensuring robust governance and risk management systems.

Launch your career as the Artificial Intelligence Controls and Tooling Governance Lead within our dynamic team. You will be responsible for overseeing the governance, controls, and tooling strategies for our AI initiatives. You will ensure that our AI systems are developed, deployed, and maintained in a manner that is ethical, compliant, and aligned with industry best practices.

As a Control Manager Vice President within the Control Management team, you'll be responsible for assisting with leading and building out an enhanced control framework which supports a continuous and integrated approach to risk assessment. Additionally, you will ensure a top down risk analysis approach, real time control issue detection, escalation, root cause analysis and remediation based on the afore mentioned control framework and principles as well as servicing day to day transactionally based enquiries and activities across the AI/ML estate at Commercial & Investment Banking and Firmwide levels.

The Control Management team has business control management responsibilities to the wider Tooling Governance team, Analytics, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. You will be instrumental in rolling out the future state of tooling governance for the business to oversee overall tool compliance. This will also involve driving a Program to establish and standardise a Tooling Governance control environment for sophisticated tools (AI and ML) to support the wider objective of digitalisation, development and enhancement of policies and standards

Job responsibilities

  • Help develop and implement governance frameworks and controls for AI systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and ethical standards
  • Assist leading the design, development, and maintenance of tooling and infrastructure to support robust and scalable AI solutions
  • Provide leadership support for the end-to-end execution of the Control and Operational Risk Evaluation (CORE), including control deficiencies and resolutions, to reduce financial loss, regulatory exposure, and reputational risk
  • Establish and maintain documentation and reporting mechanisms for tooling governance and controls
  • Monitor and assess the performance and impact of AI systems, identifying and mitigating risks associated with AI and ML deployment
  • Review and analyse program related data to proactively identify existing and emerging Operational risks and issues to support business-related programs and strategies
  • Interact and Collaborate with Control Leaders and their respective organisations as well as key partners across the Commercial & Investment Bank
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create a Community of Practice, including data scientists, engineers, legal, and compliance, to ensure alignment with governance policies and procedures
  • Focus on reducing financial loss, regulatory exposure, and reputational risk. Provide guidance and training to CIB Community on Artificial Intelligence governance best practices and tooling usage
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes related to Artificial Intelligence governance and controls, uplifting existing governance and controls as needed
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of tooling within the Commercial & Investment Banking Controls organisation

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Highly motivated individual with advanced skills in strategy, problem solving, transformation and delivery execution as well as strong influencing, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Audit, internal control or operational risk experience
  • Proven experience in Artificial Intelligence governance, controls, and tooling, with a strong understanding of AI/ML technologies and frameworks
  • Proficient knowledge of control and risk management concepts with the ability to design, create and evaluate the operational risk and control environment in conjunction with business partners
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and ethical considerations related to Artificial Intelligence.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Professional certifications in AI, data science, or related fields
  • Experience in a leadership or managerial role
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle and agile methodologies
  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning tooling and infrastructure, such as ChatGPT, Agentic AI, Knowledge Bases, Prompt Engineering and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
