Community Engagement Manager

The Community Engagement team is hiring a Relationship Manager to help the firm advance policy priorities through engagement with national third-party organizations. This position offers a unique opportunity to develop and implement a strategy and build a new portfolio of strategic relationships with influential organizations advancing economic growth and prosperity. As a Relationship Manager on the Community Engagement team in Corporate Responsibility, reporting to the Community Engagement National Executive, with accountability to the Head of US Government Relations, you will be instrumental in advancing the firm's interests and those of the communities we serve. You will be responsible for managing relationships and cultivating forums to promote dialogue between the firm and influential national and local stakeholders, such as policy organizations and think tanks. This strategic function will complement and align with policy and regulatory functions, with the broader goal of advancing the firm's interests and educating stakeholders. You will have a thorough understanding of the role of large financial services organizations in the economy and the communities they serve. Through collaboration, innovation, and proactive engagement with internal and external stakeholders, you will help develop and drive advocacy strategies that address pressing challenges, foster conditions for dialogue and understanding, and leverage opportunities to make a lasting impact on policy issues.

Job responsibilities

  • Build and maintain partnerships with national organizations aligned with the portfolio.
  • Support relationships with key influencers, including advocates and policy organizations.
  • Work with Government Relations and Public Affairs to develop and execute strategies that inform, educate, drive narrative change and advance policy on issues most important to the firm.
  • Represent the firm at events, fostering relationships that support strategic objectives.
  • Manage an annual grant portfolio of national nonprofits focused on the portfolio.
  • Guide the strategy for partner sponsorships and execute in concert with events-focused colleagues.
  • Design and host forums and events to promote dialogue and shared understanding between senior executives and key partners.
  • Engage in annual business planning to align activities with firm priorities and community needs.
  • Work closely with colleagues to proactively address issues raised by external stakeholders.
  • Track information from partners to identify trends and gain insights.
  • Conduct analysis to inform decisions on strategy and investments.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • At least seven years of experience in stakeholder management, government relations, issue advocacy campaigns, grantmaking, and/or community/economic development policy.
  • Thought leadership and subject matter expertise on issues impacting the firm's reputation and business operations.
  • Exceptional negotiation, written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders, considering multiple points of view.
  • Integrity and strong work ethic with high attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Creative, flexible, collaborative, and results-oriented with the ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in Office tools: PowerPoint, Teams, Excel, and others as needed.
  • Domestic travel, approximately once monthly or as needed.
