We are seeking a dynamic, passionate, and creative communicator to join our Commercial Banking communications team. This high-performing group is dedicated to enhancing engagement through strategic, data-driven communication strategies, serving as trusted advisors to our senior leaders across the nation.

As a Communications Manager within Commercial Banking, you will be responsible for playing a critical role in developing and executing our external communications strategy for Commercial Real Estate. You will build and maintain relationships with key reporters, developing and pitching stories, sourcing and managing opportunities for our leaders to engage with media and responding to timely inquiries. You will need to prioritize fostering strong relationships within our communications team, with the business we support and across the teams we work closest with, like business management, events, marketing, social media and more.

Job responsibilities

  • Support external communications activity across Commercial Banking.
  • Create and implement end-to-end Commercial Real Estate external communications plans that support the business' strategic objectives and key focus areas.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key reporters through proactive, regular touch points.
  • Draft, edit and distribute press releases, thought leadership and pitches, as well as curate media lists and manage outreach.
  • Manage and respond to inbound inquiries from reporters in partnership with the business on relevant matters and deal activity.
  • Monitor, share and analyze relevant media coverage with the team and business, as well as develop and distribute coverage recaps following announcements or key news.
  • Host prep calls, media train spokespeople ahead of engagements, and develop briefing documents for their prep.
  • Review speaking engagement requests through our internal system regularly, supporting the leaders as needed with their engagements.
  • Work with corporate communications partners to incorporate Commercial Real Estate into the holistic, firmwide housing access and affordability story.
  • Develop strong relationships with communicators across the firm and among our broader communications team.
  • Stay up to date on communications trends and industry news, contributing insights and helping to identify opportunities to tell our story externally; track and measure results to showcase business impact.

Required qualifications, skills, and capabilities:

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience and hold a bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, communications, journalism or other related area.
  • Media relations experience at an agency or in-house in finance and banking.
  • Strong experience developing external communications strategies and leading end-to-end execution.
  • Outstanding writing and editing skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and management.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize high volume, high priority initiatives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Analytical, strategic approach to problem solving and finding solutions.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Solid understanding of the financial services industry, particularly Commercial Real Estate and Corporate Responsibility.
  • Comfortable navigating matrixed organizations; comfortable with strategy and end-to-end execution.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Internally motivated, intentional, empathetic and well-organized storyteller who's ready to try and learn new things as opportunities arise.
