Job Summary:

As a Vice President in the Private Equity Operational Due Diligence team within J.P. Morgan Asset Management Private Equity Group, you will play a significant role in enhancing our existing operational due diligence process. You will work closely with the PEG deal teams, Information Management, and Investor Relations teams to assess and report on the operational framework of third-party private equity managers and co-investments. You will also be responsible for ensuring our processes align with industry best practices and addressing inbound operational due diligence inquiries..

Job Responsibilities:

  • Building out an existing operational due diligence process for primarily traditional investment managers along with secondaries and co-investments (generally sourced by our existing managers)
  • Supporting the operational due diligence process and collaborating with the respective deal teams performing investment due diligence
  • Setting up and disseminating operationally focused questionnaires across a range of investment strategies and products
  • Requesting, reviewing and saving relevant documentation in CRM tools/Deal Cloud
  • Preparing for and participating in operational due diligence meetings with 3rd party investment managers (in person and virtual); this includes evaluating and forming an opinion on various operational risks such as organizational infrastructure, counterparties and service providers, valuation processes, cyber security, compliance and regulatory issues
  • Reviewing and scoring responses to operational due diligence questionnaires
  • Working collaboratively with control partners in governance, risk, compliance and internal audit
  • Representing the firm in front of C-level executives (COO, CFO, CCO, CTO) at third party fund managers
  • Presenting analyses, findings and opinions at Investment and Governance Committee meetings and client pitches
  • Liaise with teams across the organization including, operations, accounting, compliance, valuations and technology team to ensure industry best practices are applied within the group's existing processes

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • The candidate should have experience performing and / or an understanding of how operational due diligence is conducted on alternative investment managers from either working within an audit firm auditing investment products (traditional funds, hedge funds and / or private funds) or working in the operations and / or audit departments of an asset management firm or in an operational due diligence role, or a combination of these roles.
  • Skill set to continue to build out our existing ODD platform, enhancements through automation and best in class operational DD processes
  • Good understanding of financial markets and various security types
  • Good understanding of investment strategies and fund structures
  • Advanced proficiency in using Microsoft Office programs including Excel & PowerPoint
  • Exceptional organization and analytical skills
  • Investigative skills and attention to detail
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills with ability to thrive in a satellite office environment on a global team
  • Strong written, presentation, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems and to manage multiple tasks at once
  • Strong initiative, energy and confidence completing assignments

  • Experience with 40Act registered funds A PLUS
