Overview

You will join the Human Factors & Experience Design (HFXD) team and provide UX research leadership for critical workstreams on OTTAVA™.

Partnering closely with designers, product management and human factors, you'll lead research aimed at informing our product roadmap and design decisions. The research themes will vary, however, you can expect a consistent emphasis on diving deeply into user needs and behavioral patterns in a clinical context, all to achieve outstanding user experience.

You will be encouraged to become familiar with a range of user types across a variety of clinical specialties. The scope of your work will span physical and digital system interactions.

Organizationally, UX Research is tightly integrated into our Human Factors team, and you will collaborate with fellow HF and UX leads to shape a truly user-centered research culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead UX critical research activities on the OTTAVA™ robotic system.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise on UXR processes and tools to ensure the data we obtain is of high quality and enables us to derive actionable insights.
  • Craft data-driven strategies and action plans to deliver UX improvements to our systems.
  • Champion UX in the business and collaborate extensively with leaders in other HFE teams, design, and product management to nurture a shared UX vision.
  • Participate in design crits and reviews to help elevate the quality of our design outputs.
  • Mentor and coach less experienced UXRs and HFEs.


Qualifications

Education

Required:

  • BA/BS degree in cognitive psychology, human factors, industrial engineering, or other relevant field

Preferred:

  • Post-Graduate Degrees (MS, PhD) are a plus and will be considered as part of the applicant's professional experience

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • Minimum Human Factors engineering experience: Bachelor's plus 10 years, Master's plus 8 years, PhD plus 5 years.
  • Advanced skill level in wide-range of research methods, with a particular emphasis on qualitative techniques focused on UX and system usability
  • Experience improving both physical and digital user interfaces through research
  • Demonstrated ability to influence product decisions by leveraging UX research results
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a highly cross-functional project teams
  • Effective organizational skills to advance research across multiple projects

Preferred:

  • Experience working across all phases of product development, from user requirements definition to validation of a design, all the way to launch and in-market monitoring
  • Familiarity with the regulations of the medical, pharmaceutical, or aerospace industry

Other:

  • This position is based in Santa Clara, CA and requires Ability up to 25%, international and domestic travel.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is [$139,500] to [$224,500]

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
