Position Summary

The Capital Equipment Repair Supervisor is responsible for providing day-to-day leadership of the Service Center Repair Technicians to ensure high quality, timely, and cost-effective repairs, while also providing technical expertise on complex situations requiring more in-depth troubleshooting, repair, or diagnostics.

The Repair Supervisor role and responsibilities will include coordinating the daily work of the Repair Center Technician Team, monitoring metrics, engaging in Talent Development to facilitate team goals, troubleshooting complaints, periodically performing repairs and preventative maintenance, and completing verification testing of medical device capital equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and coordination of servicing activities for capital equipment products; managing Work in Process (WIP) levels, cycle times, ready for use pool levels, special projects, maintaining Service Center repair metrics, and ensuring that Service & Repair records are properly recorded and maintained.
  • Identifies resourcing requirements, performs hiring activities, establishes Repair Technician career development pathways, and if required, corrective action plans and disciplinary action for performance gaps.
  • Assists in investigating and developing corrective action plans for product/process non-conformances, supports the resolution of complex equipment problems, and mentors technicians in analytical troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Fosters collaboration with other Service Center Functional Groups and works with Service Process Development Engineers and/or provides resources to assist in the integration of new product repair processes, and the development of service training materials, service manuals, and other required documentation to support the service business.
  • Proactively leads the development and implementation of process improvements for Service Center activities.
  • Leads departmental safety initiatives and ensures team compliance concerning Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level.
  • Performs other duties assigned as needed.


Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a technical discipline is required OR equivalent (technical associate degree plus 3-5 years of managing direct reports).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years related work experience in a technical field is required.
  • Experience managing a team or direct reports as a lead, supervisor or manager is required.
  • Experience in problem solving and continuous improvement is preferred.
  • Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) / ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is preferred.
  • Experience in capital equipment servicing, customer support, technical support, manufacturing, supply chain, or logistics is preferred.
  • Experience in the medical device industry is a plus.
  • Six Sigma Certification is a plus.
  • Systems applications knowledge is a plus.
  • Up to 10% travel may be required.

  • Demonstrated initiative, creativity, assertiveness, and leadership abilities are desired.
  • Negotiating/Influencing skills are desired.
  • Knowledge of electrical components is desired.
  • Familiarity with Project Management Tools and processes is preferred.
  • APICS, Project Management or Lean Six Sigma certifications are a plus.
  • Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) & ISO 9000 is a plus.
