We are seeking a candidate to join a talented System Administration team that aids 70+ Staff in prototyping and evaluating the evolutionary advancement of the Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC) capability and other experimental initiatives relying on a real-time development environment. As a member of our team, you'll develop a deep understanding of Linux administration and the Risk Management Framework (RMF) applied in the context of data analysis, real-time modeling and simulation, and tactical systems where system performance is paramount.

As a Linux System Administrator for real-time systems, you will...

  • Integrate new hardware and software into our development infrastructure and help to run their configuration.
  • Become familiar with tactically-representative systems and incorporating them onto an information system security plan.
  • Ensure security through STIGs, updates, patching, access controls, backups, and firewalls.
  • Resolve issues and outages.
  • Run networks, servers, technology tools, and user accounts.
  • Collaborate with users and leaders to ensure labs meet development needs and security requirements.
  • Maintain documentation, IT policies, and security artifacts.
  • Stay up-to-date with new technologies and administration methods.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Have earned Bachelors or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Information Assurance, or related field.
  • Have 1+ years of Linux system administration experience and passion to learn more.
  • Understand networking, system security, and patch management.
  • Are capable of writing scripts in Bash, Python, or other scripting language.
  • Are able to perform effectively under pressure both independently and in teams on a wide variety of tasks.
  • Possess excellent written, verbal, and organization skills.
  • Are willing to travel occasionally (< 10%) within the US.
  • Ability to hold an Interim Secret clearance and ability to ultimately obtain a Secret security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Have experience with RMF.
  • Have multiple years of experience supporting computer facility operations.
  • Have Windows system administration experience.
  • Have experience with configuration management technologies (e.g. Ansible, SaltStack, Chef, or similar).
  • Have knowledge of Navy systems and software.
  • Have knowledge with embedded real-time operating systems (e.g. vxWorks or LynxOS or similar).
  • Are experienced with basic techniques and diagnostic tools (e.g. meters, network analyzers) needed to diagnose problems with electrical/electronic equipment.
