The Weapon Systems Engineering group is seeking a technical professional to help us address complex engineering challenges for advanced missile defense systems. We are a multi-disciplinary team of experts whose conceive and assess real-world missile systems, perform laboratory / field testing, conduct in-depth data analysis, and present findings to sponsors and the warfighter. As an Advanced Missile Systems Engineer:

  • Your primary responsibility will be to understand and advance the efficacy of guided missile systems through the use of high-fidelity and mixed-fidelity simulations and statistical analysis tools that support the systems engineering product life cycle.
  • You will evaluate the performance of a number of existing and future interceptor systems, closely examining and proposing new algorithms for EO/IR and RF seeker operations, guidance and control functions, fire control sensor handover processes, missile proximity fuzing, and warhead effectiveness.
  • You will help to develop requirements and evaluation criteria for new interceptor designs to address emerging threats using a Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approach.
  • You will develop and implement scenarios to test and evaluate designs against sponsor requirements.
  • You will present key findings to various government sponsors including the U.S. Navy and the Missile Defense Agency (MDA), among others.
  • You will make an impact on decisions and future designs for the systems that keep our warfighters safe!

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for this job if you:

  • Have a PhD in an Engineering field, Math or Physics.
  • Have experience using scientific computing tools like MATLAB, Mathematica, or SciPy.
  • Familiarity with digital simulation development and analysis, or a background in statistics or stochastic processes.
  • Have exposure to systems engineering concepts, such as the design, development, simulation, or analysis of dynamical systems through classwork, internships, or thesis work.
  • Are able to obtain an interim Secret security clearance by your start date and ultimately obtain a Top Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You'll go above and beyond the minimum requirements if you:

  • Have demonstrated skills in modeling large-scale physical processes, using Monte Carlo simulation methods, or applying data science to detailed software representations of guided air vehicles, missiles, or related kinetic systems.
  • Are comfortable working in a Linux OS environment
  • Have demonstrated strong public speaking and communication skills.
  • Experience with MBSE, SysMI, Cameo or Rhapsody is a plus.
  • Hold an active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret level clearance.
