Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Configuration Technician

JOB SUMMARY

This position serves as a key technical enabler in our digital transformation journey, responsible for configuring, optimizing, and supporting our manufacturing execution systems and digital technologies. The Configuration Technician will drive operational excellence through data-driven decision making and automation, while maintaining clear communication channels between Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and IT departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manufacturing Execution System Management: Configure, support, and troubleshoot our Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to ensure optimal performance and alignment with plastic injection molding manufacturing requirements.

• Industrial Connectivity Solutions: Monitor and manage connectivity configurations to facilitate seamless data exchange between factory floor equipment and business systems.

• Collaboration: works alongside other manufacturing personnel to assist in the transition of new products and prototypes to the manufacturing floor for specific equipment lines.

• Process Documentation: Create, maintain and utilize comprehensive technical documentation for system configurations, connectivity diagrams, and troubleshooting procedures.

• Technical Liaison: Serve as primary technical bridge between business, manufacturing, quality, and IT departments for manufacturing applications implementation and support.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in technical field.

• Previous experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems.

• Advanced PC skills including Office 365 and being comfortable working in a Windows OS environment.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, coworkers, and business unit representatives.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

• Willingness to learn and figure things out, while keeping a quality-first mindset.

• Self-motivated with ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment in a regulated industry.

• Ability to work in shifts

BONUS POINTS

• Minimum 2 years experience working with manufacturing systems, SCADA, industrial automation systems, or experience with systems integration in general.

• Previous MES/MOMS operational or implementation experience.

• Systems integration experience and understanding of data operations in discrete manufacturing.

• Experience with Industrial Internet of Things connectivity platforms.

• Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols (OPC UA, MQTT, HTTP, etc.)

• Some data retrieval experience (SSRS, SQL query writing).

• Knowledge of other manufacturing applications such as OEE tracking or downtime logging tools and apps.

• Understanding discrete manufacturing processes and production workflows related to injection molding.

• Knowledge of Industry 4.0 principles and digital transformation strategies specific to low-mix, high-volume manufacturing environments.
