Job Description
Intuitive's Digital Organization aims to improve patient care and empower care teams with unique data and insights from our integrated digital ecosystem. Program Managers in Digital are responsible for delivering new products and capabilities to our customers and partners.
We’re looking for a great Senior Manager for our Technical Infrastructure Program Management team.
The Technical Infrastructure team in Digital is responsible for the foundation of Digital’s services and capabilities: Infrastructure Engineering, Developer Enablement, Technical Operations, and Product Security. These capabilities ensure that Digital’s services are reliable, scalable, performant, and secure. We help both custom-developed and commercially available technologies, building and releasing stable, reliable, and scalable products for consumption by internal and external users. In this role you will manage a team of program managers chartered with driving the most challenging and cross functional initiatives of this team. We are looking for an experienced person to coach, mentor, and grow our Program Managers, while also helping shape and drive practice of Program Managers at Intuitive forward.
At Intuitive, Program Management is not a task-based job. We are responsible for successful outcomes and delivery. This means that while excellent program management fundamentals are a must, we look for more.
We look for candidates who know what success looks like and know a personal stake in the services they help and the people they manage. People with a deep well of positive energy and with unbounded enthusiasm. We look for people who hold themselves and their teams to (almost, but not quite) impossibly high standards. Mentors with unshakeable integrity, and deep wisdom and judgement. Doers, not presiders. Managers who recognize the value of clear, measurable goals for the team and the organization. Managers who are as relaxed presenting to execs as they are with their nose buried in a burndown chart. Managers who love managing different kinds of people in all their awesomeness and individuality. Managers who, upon taking leadership of a team, are a cause for widespread joy and celebration.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Build and steer a high-performing, high-impact, cohesive team of program managers.
- Define, publish, mange, and deliver a broad infrastructure portfolio helping the Digital business unit and other business units across Intuitive.
- Help the team prioritize the tasks to focus on the critical activities that drive progress and avoid being sidetracked by less important issues.
- Manage the roadmap, priorities, scoping, timelines, resourcing, and requirements definition for this portfolio of projects.
- Help manage and drive ongoing improvements to our technical program management processes and the way we scale new services and technologies.
- Partner with cross-functional Product, Operations, and Engineering teams, Finance, Commercial, Legal, and other organizations both within and outside of Intuitive to deliver outstanding products for our customers.
- Work Jointly with the cross-functional teams to ensure the right people are updated with the right information at the right time on status and ensure that cross-product dependencies are implied, planned for, and crisply executed.
Perform risk analysis, develop contingency plans, and gather data from functions to proactively raise prioritization and scheduling tradeoffs
Qualifications
- At least 12 years program & project management experience with a bachelor’s degree or 10 years with a masters degree.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
- Expertise of Design Controls under US and International Regulations preferred.
- Demonstrated history of leadership in project, program, and portfolio management, technical infrastructure services management, at scale.
- Successful experience managing and coaching program managers, hiring outstanding people, and building high performing teams.
- Naturally accountable and self-starter, self-motivated, self-directed, self-sustaining. • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, written and verbal, to all levels of an organization.
- Exceptional technical proficiency in cloud software development and infrastructure. Experience with development and commercialization of medical technology preferred.
