Job Description

Primary Function of Position:

This is a key role will involve leading and executing the EMEIA transportation strategy. This includes working with carriers on freight services, analyzing / tracking freight costs, and work closely with other 3rd party global transportation partners. The role will also include process improvements, customer collaboration initiatives, business integrations, and transportation design modeling and implementation. The incumbent will establish relationships with internal Business Unit customers, vendors, and external customers.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Drive the development, evaluation, and sustainability of the service provider network to meet and exceed the requirements Intuitive Surgical. The service provider network must support cost controls, performance metrics, capacity requirements, company growth, and business continuity.
  • Develop continuous improvement pipeline that meets or exceeds individual and team goals and provide cost certainty and improved service and quality internal and external customers
  • Manage the implementation of cost, quality, and service improvement projects.
  • Responsible to prepare and control the transportation budget for the EMEIA business on a quarterly and strategic annual budget reviews
  • Lead building an RFQ process that will deliver significant freight savings and improve customer service
  • Lead carrier relationship management initiatives, which include coordinating, conducting, managing, and reporting routine and formal carrier meeting reviews that drive continuous carrier improvements, deliver business results, and identify areas of opportunity.
  • Manage the relationship between transportation operations and freight pay and audit.
  • Carrier portfolio development includes the analysis of new potential carrier service offerings.
  • Ensure controls are in place and validated to support contractual, insurance and risk management compliance with current legal regulations.
  • Lead the development and implementation of Transportation Management best practices across the organization.
  • Present transportation related business cases to Logistics leadership
  • Lead the standardization of processes including contract development guidance (including SLA’s).

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • BS in Supply Chain / Logistics or Transportation Management
  • 10+ years of experience in European Supply Chain / Logistics / Transportation
  • Knowledge of European transportation regulatory requirements, transportation contracts, contractual language, claims and insurance requirements.
  • Bring extensive industry knowledge and demonstrated ability to influence at the carrier leadership level.
  • Working knowledge of European carrier base operations, rate structures and contracts.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to communicate with all levels and departments both within and outside the company, fluent in English.
  • Ability to manage multiple cross-functional and cross-organizational projects.
  • Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong appreciation for analytics and critical thinking.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Travel up to 25%
  • English required (German/Dutch or any other European language is a plus)
